A few nice cameos but Souttar and Collins have bossed it again.

That was a bore ....1 clear cut chance ..the goal that was it .....yes you will say only need to score one if opponents score none .....but for me we are worryingly short of positive play ....let’s see Saturday

Steady if unspectacular - a big worry I have is that this system means you can snuff out the opposition's chances, but does mean you play mainly in the middle third and can cause a reduction in clear cut chances ourselves. It is a 1-0 or 0-0 formation for me.

Professional performance from the lads. We just must start scoring more goals. They have worryingly dried up. The formation is hindering anything good we have going forward.

Couldn’t watch tonight. How did we play? Did we look like scoring more than 1? Totally in control from start to finish. Got to be more clinical in the final third, some wasteful crosses/final balls. All in all a comfortable win though.....

very uninspiring, not criticisng the youngsters but can anyone in midfield pass forward, the one time we do we score, they need to be more ambitious with their play.

Couldn’t watch tonight. How did we play? Did we look like scoring more than 1? Stoke were good. Could/should have scored more but a combination of luck/and a few poor final balls prevented it.

Couldn’t watch tonight. How did we play? Did we look like scoring more than 1? We did score more than one tbf but the ref saw an invisible foul, played quite well, bit of a training game really, Gillingham offered nothing and let us do what we want.

Last season we were starting to develop a pressing 4231 and scoring some goals, but could get a pasting on the odd occasion away from home. Now we have dropped into a 352 more possession based formation where we generally look less likely to concede, but the goals and chances have pretty much dried up.
We need to get the balance right.

I don't agree really I thought we managed the whole game really well. Very encouraging performances from Thompson, Tymon, Campbell, Souttar and Collins McClean was good and Brown again looked lively when he come on. A lot of youngster gelling. that's encouraging for me.

Job done. A decent enough performance. Souttar and Collins are the future and sooner the better. Tashan OB safe with the ball but very negative, he needs to get his offensive head on and try more forward through passes. Tymon worth a start on Saturday.

Clear evidence tonight of players knowing each other and used to playing together.
Tymon has taken a massive amount of stick on this board but clearly is a talented footballer that is coming on in leaps and bounds.
We need to keep a sense of proportion though, Gillingham were rubbish but still went close on a few occasions.

TOB was way too safe with his passing & general play. Tymon impressed me & Thompson was also class, though had plenty of time on the ball.

Collins, Souttar, Thompson and Tymon all put a claim in to play at the weekend, the rest just went through the motions.

Sure they could have scraped a goal from somewhere but it never looked remotely likely to my eyes.

We need to get the balance right. 14 shots, 5 on target isn't bad. Plus we had loads chances where the player did not get his shot off quickly enough, notably Campbell.

He would have to drop Clucas, which seems unlikely. Although Josh is a better player in some ways. i wouldn’t be so sure, Clucas hasn’t done too much in the first 2 games and vs Bristol City was pretty awful ( as were most to be fair). If not for Clucas there’s always left wing. Personally I think MoN needs to get him in somewhere and somehow LWB over fox hopefully.

TOB was way too safe with his passing & general play. Tymon impressed me & Thompson was also class, though had plenty of time on the ball. If this was your breakthrough season and you had the responsibility given to you, wouldn't you 'play safe', especially as you knew the 'Oatcake Gestapo' was monitoring your every touch? I'm amazed that Tymon has come through so well after the horrendous stick he took in his initial first team games.

For some reason I thought he was a pacier Powell competitor but he hasn't done that job at all. Shown some skills and maybe he was asked to play it safe while Tymon ran around and Thompson tried pinging the ball all over the place? He just didn't stand out though, while your list did.
