A 3-0 win would have been fair. Too many poor finishes and a ref who spotted something no one else did kept it 1-0. Defenders dealt well with a physical attack. Midfield neat but the some poor passes could be punished on another day. Most players come out with credit and some got more first team experience but overall a good workout, a win a clean sheet so i give it 7/10.

Collins, Souttar, Thompson and Tymon all put a claim in to play at the weekend, the rest just went through the motions. Not sure Gregory even went through the motions He's just rubbish isn't he, we've got 4 strikers without him , we just don't need him anywhere near the first team.

Alex Neil and his players had him in their pocket. I await to see who has been appointed, at least it will not be David Webb who was poor tonight.

Pleased with the result but disappointed with the lack of scoring. Too many final passes went astray.

Thompson put a few decent balls forward. Does that mean only two of them were any good

As comfortable as it was they were still in the game until the final whistle went, shouldve been put to bed by the hour mark. Which worries me.

TOB was way too safe with his passing & general play. Tymon impressed me & Thompson was also class, though had plenty of time on the ball. If this was your breakthrough season and you had the responsibility given to you, wouldn't you 'play safe', especially as you knew the 'Oatcake Gestapo' was monitoring your every touch? I'm amazed that Tymon has come through so well after the horrendous stick he took in his initial first team games. No in TOB’s position I wouldn’t play it safe. As MON has hinted the young players need to do more and to be fair many of them now are. But TOB is far too passive. MON clearly sees his potential and hopefully can work on him, give him more confidence and bring him out of himself.

Just me who likes this guy? Honest, looks a bit mean, proper manager here! Reminds of my old manager Bob Hackney, legend of the game, hard as nails, got us playing bloody well! Like this guy a lot, those young lads at the gills will go far!! Yeah lovely bloke đź‘€

We were "full strength bar one player" apparently? I baulked at that comment at first and it's clearly misleading but at the same time there's only Souttar who hasn't started for us in a League game. It was a team with bags of experience in several areas. From his point of view, he probably saw it as a pretty strong team and probably suggests we're still underperforming as a club with some of the resources at our disposal.

Personally not sure we can take that much. They made 6 changes and had an 18 year old rookie in goal, also only named 5 substitutes for whatever reason.
You can only beat what is in front of you but putting out stats like Thompson was Iniesta is rather misleading given the canter that it was.

Laughing his cock off all the way to the bank. He’ll know himself he’s not worth half of that so fair play to him.

Thompson is fine against much worse opposition with about 30 yards of space to play in. Not convinced he'll ever make a Championship starting player unfortunately. If we're sticking with 352 Tymon should be close to a start though 👍🏻

Digested the game overnight. Properly enjoyed that one, more than any others this season. But people here are right, you can't really judge whether a player will come good from one game vs a disjointed Gills.
Collins/Souttar - Akinde caused problems, so they'll still drop a bollock every now and then, but they handled Wolves and this time Collins drove us forward. Easy choices to replace Chester and Batth or BMI. TOB - pace and some tidy control but he didn't stand out, so it's probably his positioning and decision making. You can work on that. Tymon - all over the place in a good way but he'd be push out Clucas or LWB. Not sure he's earned Clucas' place but I'd be crying out for him at LWB. Thompson - class passer in the first half. Ideally he'll work out as a regista type, replace Clucas and link to Powell or the wings. If he comes good, but he needs to do that a lot more for me before we can judge.
