I wouldn’t play Collins and Souttar.
If he’s carrying on with the 3 at the back crap they need to be in for the league game.

Batth, Chester and Vokes have to start so they don’t play in the league games I can't find words to express how ridiculous that sort of reasoning is... We're in the 3rd round with a decent chance of making it into the 4th. Wouldn't we play with the boys who have momentum. instead?

They shouldn’t be playing in the next league game, so theh should play the midweek cup tie against lower league opposition.

Has to be the one that beat Wolves. So you'd play 5 at the back against a league one team at home?

I’d play most of those who played today and then look to Preston to include more of the younger lads who did so well against Wolves
Chester, Baath, Clucas, Powell, Fox, Smith - play em all (just don’t play Vokes ever again though please !)

Has to be the one that beat Wolves. Should of been that today Don’t think it should have been, we got a load of old/journeymen style names that turned up to stoke and ain’t proved too much - but with that, come egos, reputations, agents, promises, whispers in boardrooms, contracts and sponsors. That, is money... that cannot be ignored and has to be addressed - which I think the past 4 managers (MoN included) have to acknowledge. Cup games are a great way for the youngsters to shine and allow a manager to put pressure on an Ince,Vokes, Batth... whoever. To then be able to say - they’re second team in the cup and turned over the likes of wolves, “show me why you warrant your position, get rid of your gab, otherwise we’ll swap you out”... Davies has done it to Butland, Ty has sent Afobe to Turkey.... You can’t just oust your whole top “celeb” earner - but you can show them by example that they are expendable.... And what a great position for a supporter to be in, where we can quibble over given a 19yr old nothing the potential to upset and upseat a “seasoned vet” from the the front line. It won’t / and can’t happen over night, because those first teamers signed with stoke on the pretence and obligation that they would be first teamers, well, they have to be first teamers (until proven otherwise). It is happening,.... but have faith folks!

True, it does seem we are back to hoping the manager can see what is blatantly obvious and that Tymon is our only player looking remotely up to the task on the left. My original point about Brown being if he can't play RWB then MON has no alternative but to scrap the idea of a wingback system.

Surely he has to play 4 at the back at home against Gillingham?
Playing 5-3-2 and trying to nick a one-nil win is not the way to go here

I’d play Fletcher and Campbell up front. The rest the same as Wolves I Fletcher isn't fully match fit I doubt he will start against the Gills. If he does he won't be playing against Preston.

Playing 352 at home to a League One team is nonsense, although I would keep it, with a few changes in personnel, for the trip to PNE. I would decide the PNE team and work backwards and give those not chosen to start a game in midweek. We need players as fresh as possible with games coming thick and fast this season.
Gills 4231
Davies
Smith Batth Chester Fox
Thompson Cousins
Ince Oakley-Boothe McClean
Vokes
PNE 352
Davies
Collins Souttar Bruno
Brown Powell Mikel Clucas Tymon
Fletcher Campbell

Any team to beat them - Steve Evans will be even more unbearable if we manage to lose. Still remember him charging onto the pitch away at Crawley to get Delap sent off.
