I was one of the ones who thought Souttar wasn't going to be good enough , I was massively wrong well done Harry . I’ll happily admit I was of the same opinion and glad to have been proved wrong. When he was out on loan all of the coverage I saw showed him to slow, cumbersome and no where near the danger that needed to be sorted. He’s come in and done fantastically well and can be the spine of that defence with Collins for years to come. I’m pleased we have protected the investment as well, if he leaves us before the contract is out, it should be for decent money.

Nice new long deal, pay rise. From experience This is where performance levels drop. Been poor for a few goods weeks. I hope the opposite. A few more poor performances and would need dropping, but he's still better than anything else we have so again could simply grow complacent. Bath is poor and Chester is worse. No idea why Collins doesn't play in his supposed best position... If only we had a right back...🤷♂️

Good news for both the club and player. Souttar always give his all and appears to be a talker in defence and bar a couple of recent occasions seems to be learning from Chester not in a negative way.
When he and Collins are partnered as the central partnership it is who will play the left sided one my guess it will be Collins.

Good news as said for player and club....he’s doing really well at the level and would attract a decent fee if he did go!

I always felt that Ryan Sweeney was a better bet, more mobile, but Souttar has done well. Mind, Sweeney is an ever present at Mansfield, and has captained the side too, so there is still a chance he might step up further

Back to his best today after a few average performances. Thought the same with Collins too.

Back to his best today after a few average performances. Thought the same with Collins too. He's had a few dodgy performances recently but was much better today.

He's so composed - I had no idea if he was any good, but those who keep tabs on the U23s and loan coverage didn't suggest he's be any kind of regular starter. Yesterday he stood out in a fairly dull performance as a class above most of our (and their) lineup. Can't wait to see him as a CB pair with Collins, worried it might be all too brief with so many PL clubs after the latter.

Impressed how he does the odd shoulder drop to go past an attacker and bring the ball out. Yes it looks scary, but that’s probably because we’ve been used to hoofers and sideways passers at the back.

His vision for picking a good forward pass from midfield shows what we are missing in our actual midfield department.

Another very good performance today.
He's proof of the value of loaning young players out to learn their trade lower down the leagues. When he made a couple of appearances for us pre-loans, by all accounts he really struggled. A year or two in League One and now he's in our team looking much more like the finished article.
It's why I want to see players like Oakley-Booth loaned out: it'll either bring them on in leaps and bounds or we'll see they're not good enough without it compromising our first team.

It’s his calm head, reading of a game and never gets flustered And that’s before I mention his passing ability

Fantastic again Harry. Getting better every week, he is a good player now but really think he will be a top top player just hope it's with us.

With Ryan going, could it be “The King is dead, long live the King”. Not literally of course, but a significant transition has taken place.

He was, but moving forward we can't persist with Baath, he is woeful on the ball and you can visibly see him panic when he receives the ball and is pressed. Just hoofs it...

Batth played really well again though, but he will never become great on the ball. Still I feel much more comfortable when he plays instead of Chester!
