And tbh I’d hope the academy director would go to the board and say how bad a plan it was and I’d hope they’d back him. They’re hoofing it at the younger age groups is what I’ve been told. It’s mad. People honestly think MON has had Gareth Owen and all the coaches in and said “right everyone as from now we play hoof by ball”. Even though at under 23 level where you probably do want to mirror the first team in case players get promoted we play some really nice possession football..... |

We were trying to sell him. No one was willing to pay 10m. And that the players didn’t like McKinlay. Again true. Hence why he was booted out. |

It really is complete bollocks, the biggest part of our game is to get the ball to the wing backs, through the midfield and defenders, that's why we had 47 crosses against QPR. The fact that the crosses were shit and and the forwards are poor at getting on the end of any decent balls is a completely different matter. The way we played against Bournemouth yesterday was the way we have been playing most of the season, the difference being the application which has been poor. I think there was one or maybe two long balls from the back yesterday in 90 minutes and that was a pearler from Forrester that Tymon couldn't control. Davies hardly plays any long high balls out either. Even when Fletcher plays most balls are played to his feet. |

We don’t do it at the first chance, we have the pretence of a few passes first and then launch it. But we’re a long ball team for sure. It’s why he can just about get away with Powell on the left. |
