Easy decisions to make when you've got 10's of millions coming in from other revenue streams. Not quite when you haven't. I agree with the principal though. Not as much as expected given the Chinese TV deal has fallen through, unless something else is in the pipeline. Though I think it makes more sense to stop selling anyway, as if fans can't go into the ground, it'll surely be more expensive in the long-run to sort out refunds and whatever else. Liverpool have massive world wide appeal, they're making gazillions. Gate money is verging on irrelevance for them.

No great surprise as LFC are in the middle of a cleanse ( fan update ) started with their high use members last year , expanded to their ST holders this July
LFC ST are highly coveted , almost impossible to obtain , not least because they’re not as great in number as you might think .. estimate suggest 27,000 ..to their hardcore they’re the golden ticket , to the tout the golden egg
‘The cleanse is designed to ensure that just one season ticket is registered per supporter, and will give fans who have been regularly using a season ticket that may not be in their name the chance to register that ticket for themselves with the written permission of its owner – often the season ticket is in the name of a family member or friend.’
..in reality often that family member or friend died years ago ..practically nobody releases tickets back to the club on the death of the holder..
In theory by allowing the transfer of season tickets to current people names with impunity , will help the situation ..though a little difficult if the true holder has been dead for 10 years and it’s It’s with this back drop Liverpool have announced their plans
As I say not overly surprised

This has to be the way forward. There's just no way that they can sell any season tickets for next season (apart from those sold in early March) because there's just so much uncertainty over when fans will be able to attend, how many can attend and how many times the ability to attend will be withdrawn and reinstated as potential temporary lockdowns come and go during the winter. They need to put season tickets on hold with seats remaining reserved to those who held them in the 2019/20 season and available to 'reclaim' in the 2021/22 season when hopefully full attendance can resume from the start of the season. The club should not sell any season tickets for the forthcoming season with the stadium becoming completely unreserved and tickets sold on a match by match basis for the 2020/21 season. Those who have already renewed pre lockdown should be offered the choice to either keep their money in the club and reserve a season ticket for 2021/22 or take the money back as a full refund but with their seat still reserved for whenever the early bird window opens for new 2021/22 purchases. It'd be unfair if people who have been season ticket holders for years but aren't prepared to pay money up front with so much uncertainty with the season ahead were to lose their seat. And equally, with all the practical issues with social distancing and potential phased returning of supporters in the coming months, I don't think it'll be possible to sell people season tickets for specific seats in the coming season. It makes more sense to wipe the reservations off for this coming season, making the whole stadium a blank canvas, which allows the club to be flexible with how people are seated and adapt to the ever changing regulations. And allows fans to make informed choices about whether they want to attend as the regulations change and evolve and stops the scenario of fans paying money for games that they are prevented from attending.

Sitting two seats apart might not off set slipping on someone elses piss in the bogs?
How does this lethal non-symptomatic virus work again?

Unless you can piss in your seat, social distancing doesn’t work 👍👍👍 All seats to be replaced with commodes? My mate lives in Chicago and told me it's common place for the hardcore fans at the baseball to wear adult nappies so they don't have to leave their seats!

Great. So in addition to red and white tickes there will be a yellow, an orange, a pink, a green, a black, a blue and possibly even a teale or a burgundy. You can opt for any one of these packages which will entitle you to entry to a full one game this coming season

But this would be a step too far......

But this would be a step too far...... The majority of clubs , will run at a large loss even with the original figures , though that’s counter balanced by the important psychological message that though restricted footballs still open , to help stop supporters drifting away medium/ long term to other pursuits .. A nominal figure of 1-2500 would IMO see the majority of clubs elect to play BCD , due to the additional costs and work load , logistics , form filling etc making it more cost effective to play BCD .. there’s making a loss then there’s making an additional loss The problem is if some clubs opt for BCD , but not all , the resentment it might cause , not to mention a small advantage ..ie think Wycombe’s plan a is in the region of 2500 ..so they’d probably agree , other looking for 9-12000 less so

As more and more restrictions are being applied it would not be a surprise to see another suspension of fixtures.Certainly the chances of full stadiums look highly unlikely all season.Although not a fan of resuming last season's league and cups i can understand why they wanted/had to finish. But surely a suspension of some fixtures would be better than playing with no fans. The League Cup and EFL Trophy really do not have to be played this season.I personally see no point in football without fans, even watching games on TV is really not interesting me one bit.If we have to have anything then it should just be League's,would suspend all cup and european competitions. It's all very depressing with no fan interaction.

It will be 1,000 to start with a phased increase I reckon.
How quickly that phased increase will increase sill of course depend on what’s happening in the wider context.....
