Because this season is now 11 months long I've lost my bearings on things. Was it this season we lost to Crawley in the cup ? Has no bearing on league one at all but just feel in some surreal time warp

League 2 Coventry beat us a couple of years ago with us having supposedly better players than we have now, same goalkeeper though who dives over a ball or pulls his hand away.

The demise of quite a few clubs following relegation from the Prem is well documented including Leeds in 2003 I think it was. It is quite common to crash down the leagues and takes about 15 years to regain membership of the rich league.

Don't think a lot of them have the heart for it so yes we probably would. The hope is most of them will decide they don't want to be here and do anything for a transfer then we can start afresh with young hungry lower league players

TBH I don't think FFP will be running next season at the very least and anyone with any money to spend in that league should go up. You would expect us to bounce back

This team has no desire to perform. Very few individuals worth even contemplating keeping on the books.
Unfortunately, the reality is that most of these wasters will be stuck with us in League 1. The absolutely gargantuan wages they're on means no club worth their salt will dream of taking them on.
Bottom half plodders or another relegation battle, because these useless fucks clearly don't give a fuck now, so why would they in the league below?
We are in serious danger of becoming Portsmouth II - Electric Boogaloo, albeit in a better financial state. I still think there is a scarily real chance of crashing down to League 2. That's how bad the entire club has got. From boardroom level to pitch level.
Lose or draw on Sunday and I tell you now, it is going to become all to real.

You would expect us to bounce back Like spending shit tons of money worked for us last season, or in relegation season? We can't spend our way out of the mess of relegation of League 1. And to be honest I don't think Peter will sanction those sorts of transfers.

Regardless of the issues on the pitch it would be a disaster for the club to go down. As has been alluded to, the lack of fans being allowed into the ground is going to cripple many clubs, especially those with big wage bills. The Coates can’t keep pumping money in. At the end of this Championship season I think there’ll be either a vote to see if League 1 and 2 start again anytime soon. Or they’ll ask each club if they can afford to start. Around 50% could well say no. If we go down the footballing world could look very very different.

I just said anyone with any money....The lower leagues are really going to struggle financially next season as there will be limited attendance thus very limited income and frankly If I was Peter coates I would certainly want to take advantage of FFP being paused at the very least to try and build back my investment. However perhaps you are right and Coates will not spend and we will have to rely on getting out of the league below on pure merit. Lets hope it works then

Every team would view a visit from Stoke as their cup final Would they buggery, can't agree with that. We're not a draw now, we have no interesting players, we're not famous anymore, shit atmosphere at the Brit. We're now just a bland and anonymous smear of homogenous Championship stool. Absolutely no way would any other fanbase get anything remotely near to excitement about facing us.

Course, MON hasn't had the chance to spend top bucks yet but I don't think he will anytime soon.

I've got no idea of the quality in league 1. I do know however that this team is shite quality wise and abysmal for effort. I'd imagine plenty of shite in the league but also more effort because of this leading to some embarrassing loses if we kept the same team This bloody lot would struggle in the PDSL

I'd imagine plenty of shite in the league but also more effort because of this leading to some embarrassing loses if we kept the same team I think we have a LOT of quality. We just have people with shit character in one way or another. If we keep the majority of the squad (whether we would like to keep them or not), apart from those who will obviously have takers like Powell and Campbell, and we don't adjust to the new surroundings we find ourselves in, we will struggle and could very well find ourselves in a situation like we're in now. Yes, we could continue our downward spiral. I don't know if Powell was smart enough to have a release clause when he signed a two year contract with relatively limited wages. If not both he and Campbell should bring in a fair few bob, but we should not instantly splash the money on wannabe Powells and Campbells, because players like that are not going to be happy playing bottom third L1, possibly for a couple of seasons or more. We should sign players who are wise to the ways of L1 football. Then we should bring in plenty more academy prospects, not all at the same time, but more than we have hitherto. For ages people have been saying we couldn't use this or that player until he had gone on loan in L1. Now* we have the chance to let those players loose there, and we even have some that have a played at this level before already. *provided we do go down of course.

See, the thing about League One is that it's basically a shit Championship. Clubs like Portsmouth, Sunderland, us, Peterborough all have the capability to win it, yet because they're inconsistent and piss-weak in different areas, they haven't. It's been the chancers, the ones who've relied on raw kids with a bit of skill and guile, the ones who haven't got anything to lose so play free of the nerves and expectations who've largely done well. Look at Wycombe Wanderers. Tipped for relegation, now on the cusp of the Championship.
Where the "bigger" clubs go wrong is in overthinking it. You probably need about 40% of the talent, skill and ability that you'd need in the Championship. For the rest you need players who can fight, battle, scrap for every ball, or players with fair technical ability and a bit of pace. Trouble with that approach is that, when you get promoted back to the Championship, you then almost need to ditch the squad you started with and build again, 'cos the players won't be good enough for that league (hence why Luton and Barnsley look so poor in the Championship yet pissed all over League One).
You'll face a lot of clubs who'll want it more, and that is where the issues start if you're still licking wounds. Most times, if you've got a bit of quality, you'll still beat them. Go on a losing run though and....well.
This is all conjecture btw because you'll stay up.

It's a hard one to judge. That league is absolutely pitiful in quality but big on heart and desire. Would our squad have enough quality to overcome that or would they be outfought most weeks? The issue we've still got is the hangover from the Premier League relegation that was never sorted out despite the owners and their half witted overhaul statement. We've since added to that hangover and compounded the misery. I wouldn't bet a bag of washers on this lot and i'm fast getting to the point where I wouldn't cross the road to watch them. It wouldn't surprise me to see us rinse the league equally as much as it wouldn't surprise me to see us completely implode and go down again. I have no faith in the owners any more, never had faith in the CEO, am fastly losing patience with a manager that is making stupid mistakes and the entire squad I hold in utter contempt. Other than that you think pretty highly of them 😉 , I don’t disagree by the way albeit I think some of the players are being labelled by their colleges Campbell , Allen , Collins , Smith actually . Powell , McLean will I’m sure still do well elsewhere which in turn says the manager hadn’t addressed some of the key issues , having 3 of our best 4 midfielders out on loan as we get relegated is criminal by all those in authority . Ndaiye and Etebo made it obvious they wanted to leave the club. No point in keeping players if they won’t play for you. This is one reason why football is so shit because players hold all the cards and we’ve had more than our fair share of these wasters to the point of them being a good bit of the reason we are where we are imo. Don’t know why Woods was allowed to go on loan.

I should have spelled it out better, the young players I'm taking out of the equation. I'm talking about all of the senior players, bar Powell. Understandable given the circumstances , I was listening to ally Maoist yesterday exposing the impact senior players at st Johnstone had on him as a youngster and how grateful he was , that must be a concern in our dressing room right now who are they learning from Ally Maoist hahahahaha.
