If we stay up I think it will look something like this: I think Butland will sign a new contract (can't see many buyers), uncertain about Ryan due to all his injuries, can't see Bristol with a new manager buying Afobe either. We must bring in a decent left back, but I can't see us buying many players unless we get well paid for our players under sold here! ...................Butland........................ Smith......Batth............Collins.....New player ................Allen...Powell.................. Ince/New winger..........................McClean .............Campbell...Afobe..................... Subs: Davies, Shawcross, Lindsay, Souttar, Bauer, Clucas, Sørensen, Cousins, Oakly-Booth, Thompson, Verlinden, Vokes + new left back/central defender. Released: Federici Ward Chester Diouf Sold: Badou Etebo Woods Indi Gregory Out on loan: Wimmer Edwards Tymon Maybe Souttar too? That a narrow 4-2-2-2 or a wide 4-2-2-2? If we don't get a pacey LB then I don't like the look of it being narrow, because we all know how that turns out. The problem there is you have Powell in the midfield 2. He needs to play #10. 4-2-3-1 is the ideal and I will keep banging the drum till it's worn out. Souttar I think will play a part. If Chester doesn't stay, Ryan's questionable injury record of late as well, he'll most certainly play a part along with Collins, Batth and maybe Lindsay? Take Bauer off the subs, he'll be gone again. I think Bauer is our best option at left back in our current squad, and I think he will be hard to offload due to wages as well. He is also good cover for our right back as I guess MON will keep playing Smith there next season.

With the FFP suspension can we shift the big earners for relative peanuts then? Imbula, Badou, Wimmer etc. Imbula has gone already Wimmer we could just pay off We need money though for Badou and Etebo Probably another Loan for Bauer

Just looking at the released list from the premier and think a couple could be worth a chance. Ibe and Clyne are surely worth a look at
AFC Bournemouth Ibe, Jordon Smith, Bradley
Aston Villa Chester, James Green, Andre Hepburn-Murphy, Rushian O'Hare, Callum
Burnley Lennon, Aaron
Leicester City Mendy, Nampalys
Liverpool Clyne, Nathaniel
Manchester United Borthwick-Jackson, Cameron
Newcastle United Colback, Jack

Some decent managers and hard to beat teams coming down into championship next season - it’s going to be tough tough tough, without some good characters with the right winning positive attitudes we could struggle and MON will really need to prove he’s the man

I think someone like Brentford might take a punt on him though if they go up. The other name that stands out to me is Mendy from leicester, whilst he isn’t the big destroyer we’d all like, I do think he could be very effective for us and can cover a number of positions too.

If Clyne is over his injury problems he could be a good signing although a bigger club may take a punt on him. He’s also comfortable at left back

Clyne will stay in the PL surely? More than good enough for anyone outside the top 6.

Clyne will stay in the PL surely? More than good enough for anyone outside the top 6. He was an excellent full back before injury definitely but he’s been out so long you wonder what he has left. Could see maybe West Brom or someone like that being interested. Hard to know what level he’s at now🤷🏻♂️

Some decent managers and hard to beat teams coming down into championship next season - it’s going to be tough tough tough, without some good characters with the right winning positive attitudes we could struggle and MON will really need to prove he’s the man Those clubs will just be replacing the likes of Leeds west Brom Fulham and maybe Brentford, all with decent managers and hard to beat. So it will be no more or in deed less difficult next season than this season. MON has done a remarkable job with an unbalanced squad who were under performing. His record suggests even with no changes in playing personnel he will deliver enough points for a top half finish. The real issue here is how good is he in the transfer market and can he make 4/5 signings that will turn us into a team pushing to be in the promotion shake up. His recruitment to date has been a mixed bag and his success at scfc will hinge on his signings. His obsession with Scotland is a little worrying. Of course we have to stay up first and we are still only a couple of defeats away from a corporal Jones moment

Liverpool have let him go because of constant injuries He's also 29 so unless one of the newcomers wanted him, I don't think there'd be many offering him a lucrative contract beyond a year or so. He's probably still too good for us but I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in the Championship, or even abroad somewhere.

I can see Joe Allen being sold. Be good to get a couple of season loans in of young players from top end premier league sides if possible. Oh and a goalkeeper unless Bursik can make the step up? Anyone seen the lad and what are your opinions? No one in their right mind will sign Joe Allen after his injury until he shows at least 3 to 4 months with no reaction. Joe will be with us until at least the January window (or whenever the half way window is).

MoN after the Wigan game
"There's things in the dressing room that I don't like but we'll not be able to change them between now and the end of the season.
We need fighters not excuses
So that's butland and Ince gone for starters
And obviously we need a left back because we haven't gone one
So I think it's Chris brunt , and replacements for Ince and butland
Though hopefully , there will be more change than that

He'll want a signing on fee an agents fee he will want a 2-3 year contract probably £20+K He in essence is no better than having Ward on our books, plus and this is a big plus he isn't a left back! we need someone who's natural position is left back not someone who can do a job there or we may as well keep Martins Indi

NEW LEFT BACK if we sign some other players but don't sign e left back (tbh 2 lb's) then everyone concerned should get both barrels This has to be number one priority. The second should be getting out Butland and Lindsay. Other than that, I think that the team is well placed to do good things next year under O'Neill, especially if we can start the season on a good note. The pressure will be off the backs and a fresh start could be all we need once we add some balance to the left side.
