From the BBC Gold commander Ade Adelekan said: "While work continues to investigate the motivation and circumstances of these four incidents, I can say that they are being treated as isolated. "However, that does not make this series of violent incidents any less shocking and I understand that residents in and around the areas where these incidents occurred will be rightly concerned." Five isolated incidents in a few hours surely the situation is so out of control that no one can seriously think that stop and search is a bad thing unless the residents are on a death wish.

Increased stop and search has been enacted apparently. I donāt see why they arenāt allowed to stop and search anybody to be honest Well they can as long as they have reasonable suspicion. You can't just go around having the police stop you because they fancy it. They should be able to stop and search anybody they feel is acting in a suspicious manner. Whatās wrong with that?

The test quite rightly has to be that the police must have reasonable suspicion that a knife for example is being carried. This test has to be objective. The subjective test you want leads to all sorts of problems, racial profiling being one of them

Used to work around Neasden several years ago...awful, shit dump of a place. I lived in Willesden Green for a few years . Harlesden was the place to avoid . Just down the road I lived in Kilburn, Acton, Hammersmith and Tooting, walked home from the pubs, clubs and theatres every night, not to many problems,,

A lot of these issues have been created by the likes of Dawn Butler and David Lammy making the Police into the racist bad guys. Yes like in all occupations there will be bad people but it doesnāt make the majority into the same. She and the MSM have made the police into the bad guys over the last year and now weāre seeing the cost where officers are wary of stopping young black males because theyāll be accused of being racists, Like it or not in the big cities the majorities of those involved in gang crime and county lines are black. Iām sure that Iāll be called out for this but itās reality and the soonest people in power wake up to it and do something about it the better. No doubt the papers will play it down and wonāt admit where the problem lies but by not doing this the problem remains. Whatās the solution? Pretty simple
Increase stop and searches. If youāve done nothing wrong you can be gone in 10 mins. If youāre carrying a weapon then face the consequences and it might just save a life.
Get rid of Khan.
Sack Dick and start policing again.
Increase the size of neighbourhood teams and work within the community. Relationships need to be built.
A minimum of 5 years for being in posession of a knife and 10 for using one. There has to be consequences.

The main thing is getting weapons and drugs off the streets without fear of upsetting someone. You have your point of view which is different to mine and thatās fair enough. We canāt afford to wait for somebody to get stabbed before doing something about it, the problem needs eradicating ASAP and if that means searching more people thatās fine by me. I certainly wouldnāt have a problem with being searched, would you?

It worked when I was in the job, this was Notting Hill 1979 into the early 80's you'd be amazed at the things folks were carrying. Significantly though we weren't getting regular stabbing incidents but the knives were still being carried. Nowadays it seems that weapons empower the carriers and they feel the need to use them at the slightest provocation. Peer pressure, fashion item, who knows.

I certainly wouldnāt have a problem with being searched, would you? My way of looking on it is whatās worse? Being inconvenienced for 10 mins or having another unnecessary stabbing or death. It should be a no brainier but clearly in the eyes of some it isnāt. The problem is that certain politicians and MSM have promoted that if your black and stopped regardless of what your doing itās an act of racism by the police and that is actually far worse than carrying a knife on the streets. You only have to see the coverage of the 2 high profile stops in the summer and the response to them by MSM in comparison to the little coverage thereās been to the numerous stabbings and deaths. Itās almost like they have become the norm whereas the stop (and thatās all it was) of a black politician is big news when it didnāt need to be. We need to get our priorities right rather and start saving lives rather than trying to utilise a political agenda.

They would only go for a strip search if there was belief that an item was plugged as often happens, particularly with drugs when dealers become aware there are a lot of stops being conducted in the area they āworkā. I know that thereās an agenda being pushed regarding police stopping anyone but if they conduct a strip search they have to justify it as itās a very intimate action to take and one that officers are trained to do with as much respect as they can. If the person thatās been searched has in issue with the stop they have the right to complain as Iām sure they would. Thereās has to be a lot of evidence to conduct a strip search including recent intelligence, evidence from witnesses, whatās been identified on attendance by officers.

Doesn't hurt to stop and search to see if they've got actual photos on them. Even if it gets only one more paedophile off the streets, it's worth doing right? I mean, it'd only be a minor inconvenience for all the white men who aren't paedophiles to be stopped and searched regularly. Surely you wouldn't object to it happening to you?

There has to be no more evidence than for a standard stop and search, namely reasonable suspicion. It's a good test, one that requires the person making the request to justify their actions. It works and doesn't need changing. Aggressive searching will not act as a deterrent. I don't know what will. Education? Certainly sentencing provisions didn't. A minimum sentence of 6 months for carrying a knife or a mandatory 6 months for a second offence has done nothing to stop it.
