It's a possibility, however in a country with a population of around 70 million and an average death rate of around 250 per year which is something like 0.0000003 percent isn't something I would call an epidemic. I'm not sure I'd describe the drug deaths as an epidemic and that figure will be around 20 times the deaths by stabbing this year š¤· I donāt think you can compare the 2 though as people choose to take drugs they donāt choose to be murdered. It's not unreasonable to assume that a good proportion of the victims in stabbing cases weren't mere bystanders when they were stabbed. Why does one groups illegality trump the others?

Youāre quite right 81% increase in Police-recorded offences involving a knife or sharp instrument in the last 10 years (up to December 2023.) Iād say thatās a more telling figure. benkinsella.org.uk/knife-crime-statistics/So the drill music is responsible for the increase in stabbings but has had no discernable effect on the deaths by stabbing? Approximately a third of those that died last year were under 25, that doesn't seem a particularly high proportion for an age group you would think would be closest associated with the music. I think you have to look just beyond deaths. You also have to look at stabbing injuries in relation to the intent and as Gawa said the numbers are far higher and far more of a guide as to how bad things are. I find it amazing that youāve gone from not even knowing what drill was to knowing the impact it has on knife crime

I find it amazing that youāve gone from not even knowing what drill was to knowing the impact it has on knife crime I find it hard to believe that the same music can be responsible for a massive increase in knife crime but not a proportional increase or in fact any increase at all in knife deaths, what am I missing? Knowledge of the music isn't a necessity to come to a conclusion about how it might affect society, it's probably more advisable to look at the available evidence and data surrounding the subject matter to do that. There was a similar panic about Mods and Rockers š

Court asked to consider the sentence of the bastard who stabbed those in Nottingham. Yes, they should. Throw the piece of shit in a dark cell and leave him there until he rots away.

Social media has done a great job in destroying traditional news. Thereās less money in news and news quality is diminishing year on year. How long until they donāt exist? How long until AI doctored videos become so advanced that social media companies can simply just create news because āyour eyes never lieā? How long until fees for these services (addictive services) become the norm? In my opinion, countries arenāt the future. Allegiances will be paid to mega corporations.

I suppose you're right, the amount of people that worship Apple and Tesla etc. That said you've watched too much sci-fi for that to happen. What you've described I guess is like the communist/one party states that live behind firewalls. The manufacturers here just produce the same products the rest of the world has to meet their legislation to ensure sales.

3 in 10 knife crimes in 2023 were recorded in London is a shocking stat. And I'm guessing they are well below 30% of total population. I've never considered London to be any worse than anywhere else to be honest but that is a worrying stat. Along with knife crime country wide being up 81% over the last decade š

London in particular needs to deal with this stabby epidemic, these things start in the capital and then spread
I've seen this suggestion made several times on here before but I don't follow the logic ...
Are you suggesting that a teenager in Birmingham or Liverpool (or wherever) decides to stab somebody (or at least carry a knife around) because he's influenced to do so by another teenager carrying a knife around in London?

I certainly think there is an influence yes As I said, I just don't follow the logic. A teenager in Birmingham or Liverpool (or indeed anywhere else) is surely going to be influenced by his immediate surroundings and his or her own individual peer groups. Knife crime has been a major problem in Birmingham and Liverpool for 40 years, it's not going up in Birmingham and Liverpool because it's going up in London. It's going up in Birmingham and Liverpool because knife crime is going up. Who were the teenagers in London influenced by? It's no different to suggesting that teenage pregnancy is going up in Northern cities because it's going up in London.

Trends more often than not are from America, with London probably having more population density than other U.K. cities it makes sense that the trends start there. It then starts to reach other parts of the country. Once again Iām not getting drawn in to a back and forth on this lovely sunny day. Itās my opinion with which you disagree and thatās fine.
