You stop it by tackling the cause, not the result. I do agree with you and Wannabes post on the Nottingham thread is an excellent one re mental health. What does concern me however is that mental health in particular is used as a get out and takes away all the responsibility from those that commit these awful acts. The issues around knife crime and attacks simply have too many arguments and counter arguments to have a simple resolution or to be put down to one specific factor whether it’s drugs or the lack of S and S. In relation to London there are parts on the outskirts that are awful and these lads on bikes robbing is a real threat. My friend is a courier and he’s had it happen twice in 6 months to him. I’ve never really included the City in this before which is why this latest stabbing is very concerning. Indeed but it's not just about mental health, it's also about improving social outcomes.

I walked through Leicester Square with my three kids less than a week ago and we all survived……perhaps I should contact the Daily Mail for an exclusive about my ordeal. Whereabouts in London do you live, as you are so knowledgeable about all its no go areas? My business is on Great Portland St that I'm at 3/4 days a week. I drink mainly in The Devonshire or The Marylebone and spend most of my time around Mayfair/Knightsbridge. The place I stay is on Chelsea Docks. So you are knowingly spouting complete bollocks then

I've no idea about figures but I'd personally suspect that the amount down to mental health issues pales into insignificance when compared to the amount down to gangs.

Whereabouts in London do you live, as you are so knowledgeable about all its no go areas? Maybe because it's so common you don't even care anymore. 14,577 offences were recorded in the 12 months to December 2023, Home Office data shows. Thats just the Met Police. Glad you think knife crime is funny and not an issue. Well, London isn’t in the top 10 cities with the most violent crime in the country per resident: www.get-licensed.co.uk/get-daily/the-uks-most-violent-cities/Where have I said knife crime is not an issue? Would you like my 8 year old to chaperone you to make you feel safe when you next walk through Leicester Square? He’d have no problem doing so safely, and then he could easily get himself home to SW London where I live on public transport.

I will if your 8 old is proficient in Karate or Boxing and doesn't wear a watch over 5k in value. Again Oggy. Why are you so inent on saying there isn't an issue when there clearly is. I don't get it. Surely you'd want cities to be as safe as possible

They’re completely different dynamics and size. London’s crime figures are diluted by some of the nicer areas like Richmond, Chelsea, Knightsbridge having very little crime. Look at the top 10 Boroughs for violent crime in London and they’ll all be higher. www.churchillsupportservices.com/resources/news-insights/top-15-most-dangerous-areas-in-london/Apologies from those figures all 15 rate higher than Blackpool which is number 1.

I see it near enough every week. Masked bikers and scooters. Last month I witnessed a phone snatching outside the Connaught just off Grosvenor Square, possibly the poshest St in London. London is the best city in the world bar none, and I have been to a lot. It has absolutely everything and a stubborn side to it which makes it. But... currently its ran by gangs who have absolute no kick backs what so ever. Its a free for-all. Thieves in all major cities target areas of high wealth, this is nothing new, and respectfully, I don't know why you are shocked by it. London in large parts, particularly those that you frequent for work, is run by dirty money, and that's where you'll find the lack of policing. p.s. if you mean you drink in the Devonshire Arms on Duke Street, that serves a cracking old school pint.

You could turn it round and say why do the vast majority of young people not go out carrying a knife? I’d say it’s because they’ve been given a good start in life. I think this is fair. I think the big one is the lack of investment in youth clubs and things for them to do that would take them away from that lifestyle. The opportunity to interact with positive role models and understand the path they’re on will lead to a dangerous lifestyle that is at odds with the law. There will be some that will go down that path regardless but there are some that can definitely be reached and supported not to. Separately and not just applicable to London but all over. We’ve got a serious problem as a country with the county lines gangs and although headway has been made it’s a massive issue for deprived communities as it’s seen as a quick way to make money and sold to these lads (mainly lads) with a threatening undercurrent of violence of once you’re in its very hard to get out. These individuals now have to arm themselves for protection as well as intimidation. The police have a tough job on their hands, they need more bodies but that ultimately costs money.

No it isn't, and Kahn is not racist. Oh, and I'd ease off the use of the phrase indigenous population, unless of course you don't mind if people considering that a racist statement in itself because we all know that 'indigenous population' is a euphemism for white. If that's not what you meant, then fine.

O'haras and Poterhouse Oyster Stout are another two good Irish stouts worth trying.

Why do those things make people stab each other? What are they stabbing each other over? It’s what creates them into the people they are. Wanting to choose the lifestyle that they do. You could turn it round and say why do the vast majority of young people not go out carrying a knife? I’d say it’s because they’ve been given a good start in life. What lifestyle is it that makes people want to stab each other? I'd like to tell you that none of those things you mention existed in the 60s and 70s on the council estate I grew up on, that there was youth clubs on every corner, that every parent was a teetotal that took their kids to ballet and fencing classes every other evening. But I'd be lying, my Dad ran our kids Sunday league team and I only saw any other parents once in 3 seasons, when we were in the Area cup final, I think 2 turned up. So given that not much has changed in that regard and people didn't feel the need to stab each other then, what has actually changed? Can you not see any parallels at all between the gang violence caused by alcohol prohibition in the US and that caused by drug prohibition now?
