Just used to wind me the fuck up like when McClean just crosses all the time without thinking. Just seems such a waste of possession. McClean's our most creative player via passes & carries. He moves possession into more dangerous areas of the field. But he's also our most "wasteful". That tends to come with the role, if you're tasked with getting the ball into dangerous areas, you're going to give it away a lot, as well. TAA is Liverpool's most "wasteful" player when in possession, but he's also their most creative. Here's how the squad look for 2019/20 in risk/reward ball progression. 1 is the team baseline. So creative players are to the right of the vertical line, below average creatives are to the left (nothing wrong with that if it's not your job). Players who keep possession well are below the horizontal line and those who give it away more than average are above it. Numbers in brackets are minutes played (Bigger is more reliable). Blue, unlabelled points, are other Championship teams for reference. Creative & able to look after the ball are rare (and ours currently plays for someone else). Not creative & wasteful in possession is the worst possible combo, but you can sort of forgive keepers. Powell & (especially) Campbell are nicely creative, but also respect the need to maintain possession. Ince would do if he didn't chuck it all away with his long range shooting. View AttachmentCouple of Interesting points in there So Davies is actually pretty creative for a GK I had forgotten Mark Duffy even existed.

Looking forward to seeing this brilliance in the highlights.
Suppose we've still got to hope there's a way back for him here because he seems very hard to shift

He’s still the one who I think could be the most influential of the attackers but there’s so many buts.
The main one being what has actually happened these last 18 months? And can that be overcome.
The evidence of the last 12 months suggest fuck knows and no.

No doubt Ince got wind of a scout watching him today. Explains the effort and showcase of his skills.

As much as I would like to see this as a coming good for Ince, I doubt it will be. If he did so well today, then what on earth has been going on for the last few months. There are two massive extremes and I suspect this is just one of those one offs rather than the norm. One swallow doesn’t make a summer, but I dare Ince to prove me wrong and eat the biggest slice of humble pie I can manage.

I think he's a confidence player and when we signed him we probably looked at him along with afobe and expected the most from them two and probably why he gets a lot of shit, I think he can be frustrating to watch at times but he's had a good pre-season and long may it continue, should do him the world of good going into the season 🤞

Easy to forget but he was our best player in that first half season under Rowett. Hopefully the presence of some better players around him will get him back to that level.

I was so bored I can barely remember a game apart from sheff wed and Bolton away. As for ince, best game he's had for us, in my opinion, was the 45 minutes he played on the left hand side away at preston. Think it was in the 2-2 draw.

Noticed he played left wing
Who’d of thought our most gifted left footed player would be better on the left than right wing
I think pretty much everyone has been saying he should be played left wing for the last 2 seasons, if he stays then that has to be his position

Don’t get me wrong I like McClean ( I didn’t at first) but they’d have to compete for the shirt and the form man plays

Not saying much I admit but he did start well for us. Also neither of our previous two managers are exactly great to play for as a wide forward. Got to hope MON’s style of play is better suited to him.

Yeah fair point - and he did look better under Rowett here as well! Very few people were moaning about him until his form dropped off a cliff under Jones.

This is the second time Ince as put in a decent effort when surrounded by a younger team. He did ok against Linfield.

He's done nothing before today. Credit to him for today's performance, but will it be another dozen matches before he repeats any of it. Last season he played 40 times for 3 goals and 2 assists. Is that what we paid £10m for?

Maybe the idea is Ince provides a sub option for either Maclean or Campbell on either side of the pitch depending on what is happening in any given match.

People just say that about left-footers.

No I agree and yes those stats are poor I dont think the Jones era helped to be fair, his stats the season before were better, you could well be right about him and I'm not sure how it's going for him to be honest either but I'd love him to prove us wrong
