I think we would have taken 300+ after losing the toss in good bowling conditions.

Brilliant innings from Broad. Put us back in the driving seat now. We need to bowl well with the new ball.

Didn't really notice how quickly Broad was scoring until he was raising his bat for his 50.
I am not sure whether the life has drained our of the pitch/conditions after the first hour or whether it was the West Indies bowlers getting rattled too quickly by Broad but the ball doesn't seem to have done anything recently.
We have now got to what is always a decent score having been put in to bat.

Glad Jimmy got out just before lunch, we were just drifting unnecessarily for 20 minutes there but I'm happy with 369 at the end of it. Think that knock will give Broady a big lift and he'll strike with the new ball.

This could be the crucial session of the match coming up. 4 down for tea and we’re in business.

369 in these conditions after being put in (again) is a good score. Windies will do very well to match because you fancy Anderson will be swinging it, Broad has momentum and Archer has a point to prove.

Ben Stokes has dropped quite a few recently hasn't he?! Think I heard the other day he has.. anyway, another drop today.

Really is a waiting game if you bowl full and straight to Blackwood, the way he positions himself means he has to time it every single time to even get bat on ball. Seems we’re finally learning trying to get him nicking off isn’t as likely as knocking his poles out.

To enforce the follow on or not? (If we're lucky enough to be in that position)
Think I would.

Well considering I thought we wouldn’t even got a ball today, that’s a fabulous day from England.
Frustrating to lose all these overs to bad light, especially given the forecast.

I long for the day that the ICC bring in measures to ensure that baring bad weather we get 90 overs of play a day.
Shocking over rate today and once again the umpires can’t wait to get the players off the field for bad light.

Shocking over rate today and once again the umpires can’t wait to get the players off the field for bad light. Shane Dorwich playing the short ball like that doesn’t help either. When you’re ducking a ball before it’s even been bowled it’s nothing to do with the light

Another great days cricket. I honestly didn't realise its entirely in the umpires gift now to cart everyone for bad light by reading a metre none of us can see.

How come they don't add the time lost onto the next day by starting earlier? Its not as if, they crowd would struggle to make it for a 10.30 start!

They spent a bunch of time devising special conditions for this test series due to cv19. You’d have thought they might look at playing conditions particularly around altering start times. I mean - they’ve decided to use OT for 3 of the 6 tests this summer which has to be the wettest of all test grounds.

You would think they wanted Test cricket to die with their inactivity on slow over rates, bad light, start/finish times etc.....

You would think they wanted Test cricket to die with their inactivity on slow over rates, bad light, start/finish times etc..... If you recall a few years back play was allowed to continue in England for as long as required to get the full 90 overs per day in (or at least until the light was too bad). The ICC in their wisdom then decided that because England was the only country where this was possible it was unfair and that in future they would only allow the extra 30 minutes.

So we are going to see each day shortened by bad light probably, despite having floodlights. Just start the game earlier?...I mean, come on, you don't really have to be Einstein!!!

172 lead going into the second innings. Hopefully we can make quick runs like in the last test and pile the pressure on.
