By all accounts they had a buyer but the owner was being an arse and it fell through. Annoying but I actually think this is really good for them tbh. I know for a fact they use the excellent facility at Sandbach for training and their youth games but what a trek that is really. No idea why they used Sandbach, if it is because the facilities are so good or because it was deal somewhere. No idea but I always thought it odd on two counts, the distance and why the hell haven't Macc got a facility like that themselves or close to? I can only imagine if Savage is involved and as big of an arse he is, he's firmly involved in grass roots etc I think they'll get some community facilities that are training pitches as well and it will benefit the town. there is only one sandbach united and its not the usurpers who stole the name and had the pitches put on abbey fields

there is only one sandbach united and its not the usurpers who stole the name and had the pitches put on abbey fields What's the story here? there was a few clubs around sandbach, one already had the name sandbach united, the other clubs came together when they were given the grant to build the new facility in elworth and took the name sandbach united despite the protests of the real sandbach united which wished to remain its own club sadly the original sandbach united folded not long after but it left a sour taste in the mouths of a lot of folk who had given to the real sandbach united over the years and saw them destroyed by the new entity

As an outsider I have to say it is an excellent facility and they do seem an incredibly well run club. The 4G pitches they have are always packed as well and they must make a fortune from that.

The junior football pitches and facilities around Macc were the worst in any of the areas we used to take kids teams to play

It was an amalgamation of 3 clubs, it had been a long term vision to get where they are. When I took my lot there we use to go in the cricket club opposite after a game for sausage and chips with their team and managers.

Do Man city have something to do with it? A lad I work with reckons his lad has been asked there for a trial/training session with Man city at Sandbatch, do they send scouts/coaches there?

Really no idea but it is an fa approved coaching place so it wouldn’t surprise me if the big boys were holding trials as the facilities are spot on, they Hoover up any kid they can from 6 or 7 on

It is maddening the regulations from the epl vs clubs like Macclesfield while the top 6 extort the entire English system. Unbelievable.

Didn't somthing similar happen at Northwich don't they have like 3 clubs now? There was a very dodgy chairman at Northwich Vics (he eventually got jailed) there was a fan split off and formed 1874 Northwich, some Vics fans stuck with the club, there was already Witton Albion. Witton Albion are now the highest ranked team playing in the Unibond League, Northwich Vics rent off Witton and at present play in the North West Counties Premier 1874 Northwich play in the North West premier and probably get the biggest crowds out of all 3, but rent off Barnton FC who play in the North West Counties division one South It's madness, all 3 should amalgamate and have 1 decent team that could challenge for the Conference, there's plenty of clubs around the area at a decent non league level, Barnton FC, Rudheath & Lostock Gralam in the Cheshire League, Barnton Wanderers in the Crewe and District League

Know of a few people who play for the clubs around Stoke usually went there for the money.

Didn't Gleghorn manage them? Yes, player manager for a short while then manager but was let go after a while. Most people believe too early, had them playing good football and brought in players they wouldn't have with another manager, not sure why he was let go, maybe costs

Drove past the Moss Rose this evening, sad to see it being demolished, today in particular with so much talk about the rich clubs getting richer and the small club's withering away. If this ESL does get off the ground and fans vote with their feet as promised/threatened, then perhaps there will be new support for the likes of Oldham, Rochdale, Bolton, Wigan etc - even St*ckp*rt C*nty, though it's too late for Macc and Bury.

Thought the same when I drove past it a few weeks ago as well, it’s a shithole but it’s a historic shithole, the fans must be gutted having to see it being picked apart day after day.

I can expect to see them play my village next season if they are in the Southern section and not the northern one, very disappointed that this covid prevented Isle of Man FC first season in the NWCFL, hopefully next one will be OK

An excellent consortium has been appointed a while ago and the current/new owner (rob smethurst) spending money like its going out of fashion. Anew 4G pitch has been laid (which you will be able to hire), work has been completed replacing all the seats under the new name macclesfield fc (town has been dropped), the old london road main stand is in the process of having a complete refurb, a brand new gym, bar, offices, meeting rooms etc etc etc is currently under development. The first team have appointed the legend danny whittaker as manager and will be starting again at the bottom (all thanks to the bent, incompetent previous owner, efl and fa!).
