Piss poor whataboutery! They'd have swept it under the carpet if a member of the public hadn't filmed it. Look forward to him being fast tracked to jail over the next 2 weeks for a 5yr stretch. How is it whataboutary!? Labour have dealt with this very quickly. Rightly so. Surely even you would praise them for it. But it was very different for Tories accused of worse crimes. We all know that. If he is charged and he pleads guilty, I am sure he will be dealt with as quickly as the system can. If he is charged and pleads not guilty, then it will take much longer because that is how a justice system works. We don’t lock people up without charge or without the right to defence, however pitiful the defence could be in the circumstances! You can't really do anything but take action when there's a video showing a mp assaulting a civillian. It's a shame that Starmer can't take action against a property tycoon MP who rents out mouldy ant infested apartments without the right licenses. An excellent long read on him here - novaramedia.com/2024/10/24/jas-athwal-was-cleared-of-sexual-assault-or-was-he/

To be fair, those are two monumental fuck ups! We'd probably still be locked down if labour had won the 2019 election. For that alone I'm glad they didn't win. March 2020 - Johnson backed the Coronavirus Act 2020, granting emergency powers for initial lockdowns. November 2020 - He supported the vote for England's second lockdown. December 2020 - Johnson endorsed the tiered restriction system that replaced the lockdown. January 2021 - The prime minister supported the vote extending lockdown restrictions due to rising cases. March 2020 - Corbyn supported the initial Coronavirus Act, giving emergency powers to manage the pandemic. October 2020 - Corbyn voted against the government’s "rule of six" restrictions on gatherings, reflecting his stance on individual freedoms and opposition to certain aspects of the restrictions. December 2020 - He opposed the tiered restriction system, citing economic and social concerns. March 2021 - Corbyn voted against the renewal of the Coronavirus Act, arguing it granted the government excessive powers without sufficient accountability. Corbyn also opposed mandatory vaccines which Boris government pushed through.

He opposed mandatory vaccines for NHS staff and vaccine passports, arguing that these measures would be counterproductive and create division. However, he then went on to support vaccination campaigns and encouraged people to get vaccinated when it was politically convenient. His changing position on Brexit was inconsistent at best. Historically, he was a Eurosceptic, voting against the European Economic Community in 1975 and opposing the Maastricht Treaty in 1993. During the 2016 referendum, he campaigned for Remain but was criticised for his lukewarm support. After the referendum, he initially accepted the result and ruled out a second referendum Later, he adopted a neutral stance, promising to stay impartial in any future referendum. His stance on peaceful resolutions in response to conflicts went for a kibosh when he supported military interventions in East Timor. One of the more ungracious and disingenuous politicians of recent times along with George Galloway and Nigel Farage.

How does that make someone a hypocrite? If you want to talk about hypocrites. Do you wish for me to remind you of Keir Starmers 10 pledges to become labour leader in 2020?

Before the election: "Those with the broadest shoulders will need to pay their way most." So what happens? Ordinary Joe Soap who uses buses to get to work will see the maximum bus fare they're allowed to be charged is going up 50%. So much for 'broad shoulders'.

Feels like this budget has been going on for years - ridiculously drawn out and most of it seems to have already been deliberately leaked. However, as I've mentioned before, I applaud Starmer for actually facing the issues the country faces. Whether the policies are fit for purpose is another matter completely but I shall await the nitty gritty which will be released soon.

I'm still waiting for a meaningful definition of 'working people'.
There was me thinking it was people who went to work!
But, oh no, its people who can't write a cheque if an unexpected bill comes in.
So scrimpers and savers of this world brace yourself for a tax hike.

www.theguardian.com/society/2024/oct/28/rachel-reeves-expected-to-raise-national-minimum-wage-by-6-in-2025Income for the very lowest earners being increased. This will anger many on here no doubt. Not only are all with earned income not going to see a tax rise on that income in this budget, but now the lowest earners are getting a pay rise. What about the poor second property owners who may see increased tax on their unearned rental income? Or the poor shareholders who may have their dividends taxed nearly as much as earned income is!? It is the owners of capital who are the really poor. Not the people paid minimum wage to work for them. We need to tax the poor more and tax the rich less otherwise they will all leave!

Which James Schneider do you think is speaking now on GBeebies? Is it the one that backed Conservative Canidates in ConservativeHome against sitting Labour MPs Or is it as he's talking about a yet to be announced Budget given his previous wholehearted support of George Osborne Budgets Or was it the road to Damascus that soon after caused him to cofound Momentum and vigorously support Corbyn I can understand Corbyn supporters disappointment that he is not still leader but that doesn't give licence to tell lies about what Reeves is able to do. After more than 10 years of negotiations via OECD more than 140 Countries including UK signed up in 2023 to BEPS Base Erosion Profit Shifting Agreement which means all Companies with a Turnover of $750M operating in any Country must pay a minimum of 15% Tax in that jurisdiction effective this current year. Whatever Schneider may be he not stupid but using a more polite term he is being disengenuous when he suggests that Reeves could arbitrarily introduce in isolation Taxes on Corporations already agreed on a Worldwide Basis to save Bus Fare increases yet to be announced is poppycock. It is just playing to the gallery, whichever gallery he may be playing to these days.
