I work for the hospice and we are struggling to keep our services going - this virus has literally seen our fundraising income fall off a cliff. Both James and Joe have recently made significant cash donations to help keep us going to provide much needs services for children with life limited conditions. Thank you so much.

Good for them. Quite a few footballers have been doing good things in this crisis.

It's part of why stunts like McClean's instagram post are so frustrating (amongst other things). I get the impression that he's otherwise a very decent person.

Decent and foolish are not mutually exclusive

I hope a lot more footballers are doing similar. It would be nice to hear if any have volunteered for the NHS to make phone calls. No risk as you do it from home and imagine the thrill an isolating patient would get from speaking to a footballer.

Whilst I've made my feelings clear on another thread regarding one of our players, I'll say hats off to the pair of them, let's hope many others with a few quid lying around follow suit.

I am appalled by James McClean. Yes great he makes a donation along with Joe, but he must think about what he is doing posting something so inane. No doubt he will get even more stick from opposition supporters from now on.
Very sad and his behaviour will not help his children in the future.

James McClean is one of the most generous footballers around in terms of his charitable donations and work in the community. But he made an ill judged joke on Instagram so I’m going to ignore all the good stuff and just lambast the bloke......

I think the probability is that a lot more are keeping quiet about what they are doing to help as they don't want to be seen as bragging.

Probably where mcleans 2 week wage fine went. Anyone know what normally happens to players fines - it seems a bit weird that they are just kept by the club and therefore they benefit to £50k as a result of players indiscipline. Maybe JM requested it go to DLT?

His problem is people who trawl these social media sites are are desperately trying to be offended by the slightest thing. He can post what he wants as far as I'm concerned and I won't go crying about it but so many do. Sad state of affairs when so called social media and reality TV make front page news but are just giving so many what they want.

One thing that does concern me though, how many balaclavas does he own? I've never owned one and I'm over 50. Not the sort of attire you usually find in a sock drawer.

So it didn't offend you in the slightest when he purposely came out of the tunnel whilst everybody else was observing a minutes silence for our fallen war heroes? He lives and earns a ridiculosly high standard of living in the country he disrespects on a regular basis and you are surprised that people take offence to his antics? And when people of that country quite rightly get offended you decide to defend him and suggest he is doing no wrong? I'm glad that your opinion is a minority opinion on this subject to be honest.

Maybe JM requested it go to DLT? Unfortunately not. James made the donation personally and without prompt, Joe then followed suit. James message to me which followed his donation told me exactly what his motive was having visited the hospice in the past. Forget the naughty stuff he does. He really is a generous, top bloke.
