Some of the acting is pretty crap but interesting historical remake of the Ottoman empire taking Constantinople in Series 1 and Series 2 the war with Vlad the Impaler: AKA Dracula. Think its a Romanian historian goes through how he is still a hero there and goes on about some 'random' Irish bloke creating the character of Dracula off of him. The history of his beef with the Ottomans and the lengths he went to in order to delay them invading long enough in the hope the Hungarians would join on Crusade is fascinating - barely knew anything about it before watching it.

If anyone is interested BBC4 are showing a complete re-run of the 1979 Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy starring Alec Guinness. I really liked the Gary Oldman film, but the BBC TV series is a masterpiece with its atmospheric theme tune, title sequence , Who's Who of 1960s to 1980s British actors and convoluted storyline. As well as the main stars there are some brilliant cameos from the likes of Ian Bannen, a wonderful Beryl Reid as an alcoholic retired intelligence clerk, Joss Ackland, Patrick Stewart and Sian Phillips. It might be a bit slow with very little violence or action by modern standards (sometimes the only action is Michael Aldridge (as Alleline) cleaning, filling, tamping down and lighting his pipe or Smiley polishing his glasses on the end of tie) but for anyone who likes spy thrillers and hasn't seen the original, it is well worth a watch. excellent will get on to this

Talking of Gary Oldman, he is absolutely stunning in this, highly recommended! The first season was originally on apple but it's now on Sky too ...

The second season turned out even better than the first. Second series was a real slow burn but yes, even better than the first by the end. I do wish a certain character from the first series would somehow come back from the dead though. Loved them.

Tin Star with Tim Roth. Brilliant acting throughout. Beautifully shot. Superb soundtrack. Unlike most these days it has a firm, three series and done format. Oh, and I don’t find it hard to watch Genevie O’Riley. Good shout for Tin Star.

Not sure if "Mare of East Town" got a shout in this thread, but I recommend it.

Watched Dont Fuck With Cats last night.
Only three episodes but we found it absolutely riveting, bizarre story (and the recommendation should come with the warning that there are some extremely distressing scenes in it) but once we started watching the first episode, we weren't going anywhere until we'd watched it all.

A Town Called Malice
7/10 - typical Nick Love fare. Watchable but not as good as The Business, which it seemed to borrow heavily from. Cracking 80s soundtrack though

I've belatedly gotten into Yellowjackets, which I was previously aware of but thought I wouldn't fancy it. It's good...quite bonkers in fact with Juliette Lewis and Christina Ricci both equally nuts in it.
Shout out too, to 1883 on Paramount. An origin story to Yellowstone (which I haven't watched). 10 episodes and an excellent performance from Sam Elliott. Had to wipe a tear or two from my eyes at the end.
