They don’t start on that. Their pay is incremental like coppers. The more time they serve the greater their expertise... they start on 24 something so not much under 25k

Did they drive around or walk? It's just pointless cock measuring Policing. they drove, took chairs and table and cake with them. No it's not, what if they'd been in an accident or broken down, an accident which may have required an ambulance and NHS staff, you'd have been over it like a Dolores on a free KFC if a Tory had done it and that scenario had played out. It was a Tory that did it.........

-Lets face it.If you needed a ventilator you would want the"Rolls-royce " of ventilators..... I've only got visions of pipes linked up to a jet engine and it scares me tbh Just take a branch pipe off the p3p air supply off the turbine compressor, plenty of air supply then

Plenty of others have pointed out your where you’re going wrong but just to underline it, if the crisis hasn’t already done it, no job should be labelled low-skilled. It’s demeaning and untrue. The vast majority of 'skilled jobs' are insignificant in the grand scheme of things, and I would class my job as one of those. I think I'd get much more job satisfaction doing something that actually really mattered and made a difference. If there were a nuclear holocaust tomorrow and we ended up in a kind of Mad Max style society, I'd much rather team up with a cleaner, nurse and butcher, than a footballer, politician and investment banker. The low skills are more often than not the most important skills. Unfortunately there are an abundance of wankers in privileged positions and with a false sense of worth who look down on and scoff at those at the bottom of the pyramid. Thats pretty interesting Foster. Max Brooks touches on a similar thing in World War Z when he talks about how in his apocalypse lawyers, consultants, accountants etc actually aren't relevant skills whereas mechanics, cleaners etc are the valuable skills as they can keep the world moving so everything gets reversed.

Stronger action on countries breaking EU rules, a complete overhaul of the common agricultural policy and a massive overhaul of the political institutions to make them more democratic. Ambitious but possible. It's called politics. Jumping ship has just left us weak, isolated and desperate to suck up to China, Russia or the US to prevent our economy being obliterated. The only power we have is to choose who's Mini-Me we want to be. If we are weak then so are 90% of the other countries in the world. Do you think Canada, Australia, India, Saudi, Switzerland, Norway, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, New Zealand, etc. are all weak. We are the 6th biggest economy in the world, being overtaken by India. We have massive global influence with our culture and language, and financial services. If the EU have any sense, they will give us a better trade deal than anyone else because they sell >£60 billion pa goods and services to the UK. Do they want to risk losing that? I've never heard an Australian, Canadian, or New Zealander refer to his country as "Mini-Me". Regarding changing EU rules, there will be a massive revolt in French agriculture if they lose their funding. The eastern European countries will revolt if they don't get their regional aid. Is Greece going to be dumped by the EU? Italy is going to need major financial support, and probably Spain. We haven't jumped ship, we got out just in time. Just as we escaped Blair taking us into the Euro zone. Thank God. Canada, Australia, India, Saudi, Russia, and Brazil are huge countries with stupid amounts of natural resources the rest of the work is prepared to pay for. We haven't. Mexico is an economic basket case - and I'm assuming you are not expecting the base our economy on drug cartels. Switzerland are the world's bankers. Norway is pretty much aligned with the EU and when the oil runs out are very likely to join. Which basically leaves New Zealand. So the plan is to move into sheep farming? Economically we need the EU more than they need us. Our major industry is the financial sector and that can move at the flick of a switch. On the day of the referendum I saw Billy Bragg play at Glastonbury where he pointed out that all those people wanting to pull up the drawbridge on the EU hadn't cottoned on that the hinge is actually on the other side of the channel. Still so true. My big hope is that Covid-19 will alert the world to the importance of international co-operation and give the go it aloners a massive head wobble.

“Thanks for being responsible citizens and staying at home folks” Meanwhile..... This topic has been coming up like a stuck gramafone record since January hasn't it? Michael Gove had his balls felt about it while doing the media rounds at the weekend. The official line is that it is an irrelevance in the grander scheme of things and the travellers should observe all the isolation advice given out on the flights. Of course Nigel Farrage is all over it in that 'Mr reasonable yet indignant' way only he knows how. It's a tough one, we seem to telling a million, I think it is, Brits currently abroad to come home and I suppose we can't say that and then cancel all the flights. It doesn't look good though I have to say. The papers mocked up in a photo what the 10 flights in an single hour from the USA looked like in one image. As though folks are not wound up tight as a bow enough already!

Could have been somewhere in Sweden ... Now when at least some people here have been told not to come to work, they're taking the opportunity to go by bus or tram on a daily trip instead. My brother works within sales in a shop and he said they had twice as many customers this weekend as they normally have. It was like the days before Christmas. He alone had 350-400 customers. No protection (and not allowed I guess). Many were coughing.

I agree the Chinese authorities should have clamped down more on illegal wet markets. Thing is they are illegal - not state sponsored. I also agree re American food standards. Thing is they are state sponsored. So where does your complaint lie? Against the Chinese government or some "entrepreneurs" bravely fighting the dictat's of a repressive state? You appear to be berating China for not behaving more like China. Lessons have to be learned and mistakes have been made everywhere. But why the need for a witch hunt? Incidentally - we've had our run ins over the years and I suspect (and hope) we will have more to come but I do not believe you are in any way racist. They are and in a state where the state control everything if they want to and if they really wanted to shut them down could with one move of their iron fist. It's admirable and scary in equal measure. Why didn't they? My blame lies with China for not actually doing anything about the markets and for then suppressing the damn thing, more wasted time. Our government, just in general, they're fucking useless aren't they and have handled this terribly. But I don't think it's right to not blame one and not the other. It's been a series of fuck up by all of the different players that directly affect us. And I don't want a little Britain, far from it but I do think we should have the capability to look after ourselves. I've long believed that and that's from someone who is a staunch remainer and still wants us in the EU. Re a witch hunt, I think it's the only way these people (China and our govt) will listen. Even then I don't think they will and that's what worries me. Sorry but I subscribe to the cock up theory of history - in general people are too disorganised and incompetent to successfully pull off a conspiracy - especially on this sort of scale. Lot's of people of whatever nationality and political complexion have made mistakes. I'm neither a Tory nor a fan of totalitarian regimes like China. However they have both done some good things in unprecedented circumstances and that needs recognising. What exactly is the point of a witch/bat hunt at the moment? Shit is happening, what's important is dealing with the shit. And what if it turns out that it was a Chinese bat that infected a pangolin that infected someone who bought it from an illegal wet market. So the Chinese close down their wet markets - so how exactly is that going to stop a Brazilian Howler Monkey who licked an infected tree frog from crapping on the packed lunch of an unsuspecting Danish tourist? Inoculate all tree frogs against viruses they don't have yet? Insist all howler monkey's wear nappies? Stop all Danes from undertaking international travel? A global pandemic has been predicted for years and when this one is over there will another one along some time soon. If you want to blame anyone blame the joker how came up with natural selection or the propensity of complex carbon based molecules to self replicate at the expense of other biological organisms.

I haven't mentioned a conspiracy have I? Simply an authoritarian government not being very authoritarian for whatever reason...... They have both done some good things and again I've mentioned them. But I think they both need shoeing for the bad things they've done. Because we need to stop it happening again, like with football I believe you learn way more from mistakes than success hence why I point them out. And like with football, success tends to mask mistakes and I think that is unhealthy and that's why I bring them up. People learn way more that way. And it won't but that is unlucky, it coming from a Chinese wet market isn't.
