On the other side of the road Just before you go under the bridge towards stoke Guessing they were college kids from Sixth Form tbf with that volume. And if they were in College/Uni what else are they meant to do? Well at the time there had allready been social distancing strongly encouraged, the car in front of me was waving his arms about and everything at them. The Uni themselves should know better, I dont expect the students to care

I can't do the links but there is a really interesting piece that I've seen today about how the Atalanta v Valencia tie had the potential to be the catalyst for what we've seen in Begramo, Italy. Atalanta's ground wasn't big enough to host the tie so it was moved to Milan where over 40,000 people descended on the fixture. It was such a huge game in the history of the club that those with mild fever or symptoms simply wouldn't have felt ill enough not to attend so went along. It is the opinion of the mayor of Bergamo, whether he's right or not is still to be determined I guess. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-8151075/Coronavirus-Atalanta-v-Valencia-Champions-League-match-biological-bomb.htmlIf he's right and our government were wrong, then you would think Cheltenham is going to be the big worry.

Hundreds of students in London went into self isolation over three weeks ago when I was being asked to continue to go to work.

I think we all know where I'm coming from, just last week I witnessed approx 300 tightly grouped students moving from one building to another as good as hand in hand. It would be a different story if this virus was attacking their age group Why didn't you have this angry attitude towards the people going to the peak district? Where you said you could understand them going there.... I'm just wondering how constructive these finger pointing posts are? For balance, I'm working with alot of University students at the moment (online of course!), and I'm finding their approach to this extremely mature, responsible and conscientious. Many of them were self-isolating over a week ago and are strictly adhering to guidelines, sharing practical/useful information online, many of them are also offering themselves for community services if required, shopping for elderly etc. One of my students, after self isolating for 10 days (because a flat mate who is a nurse got a cough) as today volunteered to drive to London to care for a severely autistic adult who has lost their carer through Fever. So they are not all bad!

Much appreciated Estrsnged excellent thank you....I obviously don't know if it is true, and the last thing we want is false rumours, but someone normally reliable has told me, this morning, that the authorities are so worried about Covid 19 because it has mutated 3ctines already.......what do you think? Iceland have allegedly found 40 mutations, but these are all minor changes to the strain and nothing to which a vaccine couldn’t be prepared against. For comparison, HIV mutates on average 0.34 times every single replication cycle in just a single human, so 40 different mutations across 100s of cases is a negligible number in viral terms for Covid. The relative slowness of these mutations has already made a vaccine much more viable. www.newscientist.com/article/2236544-coronavirus-are-there-two-strains-and-is-one-more-deadly/This is actually pretty good article explaining where science is at currently with the different strains if anyone is interested. Some great explanations by the way Faye jr. like you I hope the mutation behaviour continues to be similar to the seasonal flu virus so that a vaccine will become possible. I think though that the reason authorities such as the WHO are rightfully very concerned is in case the mutations take a serious skip and start to behave like the common cold, which mutates rapidly and never allows us to develop any natural immunity, so fingers crossed it goes the way you have so eloquently described. Stay safe

So they are not all bad! It's the same every day though mate. It must be when they've all woken up and logged on. We get an hour or so of childish and pointless partisan dick measuring. The best thing to do is go for your walk and come back later when they've all been put to bed for their afternoon nap. Fair play to you and Estrangedsonoffaye for struggling manfully on to keep the debate on track.

How is Liverpool faring in the battle against the virus? Do we know? Liverpool is faring comparatively well apparently so far, but there would have been a lot of people from outside Liverpool at that game anyway. maybe this is from the article you refer to On 19 February, 2,500 Valencia soccer fans mixed with 40,000 Atalanta supporters for a Champions League game in Bergamo which Giorgio Gori, mayor of the Italian city, has described as “the bomb” which exploded the virus in Lombardy. In Spain, Valencia players, fans and sports journalists were amongst the first to fall ill." It should be noted, what was particularly unique about that game was that Atalanta were playing at the San Siro in Milan for that game. So even the 40,000 home fans were in fact travelling 40 or so kilometres - which in turn could (not definite) have exacerbated the problem back in Bergamo.

You could have called in sick with symptoms, you surprise me more than anyone else because you more than most have been extreme about quarantine measures from day 1, yet you are going on a train moving from city city to city, wtf? I've been on a training course recently with a small group of 4, when they brought 10 more in i turned around and went home

Not got the link to hand but in Uruguay the country's first 300/400 cases were attributed to a woman who flew in from Spain for a wedding or some kind of large event knowing full well she had the symptoms of Coronavirus, shows just how quickly things can escalate by one or a few people making bad decisions or generally being selfish arseholes......

thanks! I would have thought I'd have heard by now if it wasn't. I don't feel really vulnerable but I'm being told I am. So I'll do as I am told.
You can be as strong as you want, but even Achilles and the Death Star had weaknesses. Good on you for not being stubborn on this one, properly listening to others can be one of the hardest skills. You are a full-on asshole Berahinosgoals, or whatever the fuck your name is, Why for posting something I've read in the internet to look at with your own discretion and mind? I've got nothing against anyone but then there are full on arse holes like you who think everyone must be an arsehole or racist to post something you dont agree with, especially if it involves another culture or race. Just like that skip fella, I'm not surprised he is a students lecturer. You have a closed mind. I wouldn't be surprised if you are a student, knows it all with zero life experience No, my friend, 72, sorry to disappoint (and, incidentally, saw my first Stoke game in 1951). I've spent quite a lot of time in China but couldn't live there because of the regime - which, agreed, is intolerable. I was responding to your catalog of made-up, evidence-free bullshit. What the fuck was your point other than to prove you are an intolerant xenophobe? Sometimes I wonder how the race has survived this long.

Is there a practical difference in herd immunity achieved via vaccination and that which might occur via a large majority catching the virus? Other than potentially 10s of thousands of deaths that might happen before we get there. Not in broad terms no, but you’ve picked up on the main difference. Herd Immunity prevents deaths via prophylaxis whereas most people catching the virus would risk thousands of deaths before you get the same effect of breaking the chains of transmission. I suppose the main other difference would be, if you’d have the vaccine you can definitely be counted in the herd immunity figures, with infection you could only be counted if you have the antibody test post infection as you’d never know if you were infected but asymptomatic. Thanks. It seems that this antibody testing is absolutely vital for economic reasons as well as health.
