I've just been told I've got to start going back into the office from tomorrow/next week as the IT system is on the verge of collapse due to the sheer amount of homeworkers, they're trying to resolve but to no avail......

They do care. Mine were voting with their feet and studying remotely a good two weeks before Boris Johnson had the sense and balls to ask people to stay indoors. Hundreds of students in London went into self isolation over three weeks ago when I was being asked to continue to go to work. Your students are a reflection of their tutor Skip 👍 Thank you, it's appreciated.

While these cases are fascinating, as well as disturbing we have to assume they are rare and exceptional. Not everyone is going around licking toilet seats and the people who are mentally unhinged and will probably face the consequences. It's really a kind of self harming I guess. You reap what you sow in this case. The other clue there is...... USA!....what do you expect?......Vote for a Nutter and what do you get? People who lick toilet seats ?

Cheers mate and the same to you👍 IT workers will enable huge swathes of us working from home. My place of work (University of the Arts London) is an enormous business and now virtually completely reliant on its IT system being up to the task. Best of luck. And to those working in engineering etc.

And to those working in engineering etc. Its mainly shop floor workers who are in out of the approx 14,000 staff around the country and no shift overlaps have been put in place along with the rules on social distancing. How much longer this is for I’m not sure but I fear with airlines being ground to a halt it won’t be for much longer🤔

if it affected them they wouldn't be there That's just nonsense. If they were well they had to be in as was the policy at that time. I was in work and on the train at that time, I didn't want to be in but had to be. It doesn't mean you don't care any less. This is true up until recently students were informed that they must attend lectures or be marked absent without permission. They were told this was following Government guidelines. For international students especially this has great ramifications, their funding being linked to attendance to lectures. Up until just 10 days ago, emails were going out to staff and students that the policy was 'Business As Usual'

Nice day I've cut back and front lawns . They were a bit long , I should have strimmed a bit first. Knackered now.
Big fan of this chap for equipment free exercise routines I'd also highly recommend Convict Conditioning for an exercise regime to do at home and the basics would allow anyone ambulant to participate Also here is a link for 'free books' if you can't afford Amazon digital versions b-ok.org/Cheers Goonie.

Not in broad terms no, but you’ve picked up on the main difference. Herd Immunity prevents deaths via prophylaxis whereas most people catching the virus would risk thousands of deaths before you get the same effect of breaking the chains of transmission. I suppose the main other difference would be, if you’d have the vaccine you can definitely be counted in the herd immunity figures, with infection you could only be counted if you have the antibody test post infection as you’d never know if you were infected but asymptomatic. Thanks. It seems that this antibody testing is absolutely vital for economic reasons as well as health. It really is, the validation is absolutely key and sadly there will be some companies throwing out any test they can to make a quick buck. So whilst it is frustrating we’re just told it’s “in development” it’s nothing compared to what a load of false positive tests could do, that could cause a colossal second spike that overwhelms a health service. So we just have to hang tough until it’s ready and virtually infallible. The rollout strategy is also massive, it must go to the NHS first for their safety and that of patients, then roll it out to a prioritised list of industries as quickly as possible whilst not exhausting the supply. The logistics are as important as the test itself.

I know what it is because of my 12 year old daughter (we had to put all restrictions on her account after finding out that grown men in India were following her).
It really is a kids thing, why the fuck adults feel the need to be on there is totally beyond me.....and for those adults to then carry out these "challenges" so they can get "tik tok famous" with a bunch of young teens seems worrying as fuck in general on many levels

What i find strange is that berahinosgoals is slagging them off for following govt. advice and not using common sense, yet he himself only bothered to leave some work thing because 10 people showed up when originally it was just 4.
Surely (by his own logic), he should have used common sense and left because there were 4 people there rather than only leaving when there were 10? I can only presume that it's because the govt. advice of only 2 people being around each other hadn't come in yet....in EXACTLY the same way that govt, advice about not going to school weren't in place when these kids were around each other.
He's a bloody hypocrite and common sense rules should only apply to everyone else other than him apparently.
He's a beligerent fucking troll, if you ignore pretty much anything he types you'll be fine.

Yeah mate, it's dodgy as fuck. It isn't like facebook where they have to send you a friend request and you have to approve it; on tik tok you can follow anyone at all without that person even being asked.

Not good mate, I'm paranoid about the stuff that's fairly secure never mind those types of sites. And despite him being a sensible kid he's fairly easily led so I think I'll tell him it's a no for now. Cheers for the heads up.....

Just had a conversation with my work when I go back next week only management are in working on shop floor due to the majority of our customers closing. Some of our medical device customers have asked us if we will still be open so a few of us are filling gaps

Just hearing from a mate at JCB that all the 6,500 strong UK workforce have been furloughed............. That's a good outcome to be fair. Leave with 80% is a great deal. A lot of employers are laying off staff without pay, until the government support comes through.

Just had a work call (IT company and most of us work from home as it is) and one of our UK divisions has been told to take mandatory leave until further notice from tonight (whether they work from home or not), our Italian branch is being closed completely until further notice and my boss said she expects the same to happen to us. Only essential workers for our company (as a lot of our contracts are UK gov. and the govt. have said our HR can produce documentation for those people) will then be working full stop. My brother (a fireman) has also been told by his boss today that they will be receiving docs from the govt. and they will need to take them out anytime they leave the house to prove they are key workers.
I feel a full (proper) lockdown coming, where only essential businesses will be trading full stop whether people can work from home or not. To be fair, it's the only real way to ensure people aren't abusing the rules/finding loopholes in order to just carry on about their normal, daily routines.
