So what if somebody chooses not to follow the government advice to go to work and decides to stay at home and then their employer says "hey, why aren't you in work, the government are saying that you SHOULD be?" As I said to Bayern,If employers demand that workers go to work it shows to me they don’t value the employee and are asking them to risk not only their own lives but ALSO that of the employee. If my employer said that to me I’d tell them to shove the job rayte up their fuckin arse.... I value my life Me too. I can’t afford to not work and with jobs about to become scarce.....

It's not fair for employees to have to threaten their boss with sticking their job up their arse is it?

The one good thing is that thank God we’re not America or Brazil.
At least there’s some people in British politics to stand up to those in charge and push them.
Trump is just being himself and their system in general just seems so fucking messed up.
This is Brazil

Well here I am at 0:46 hours on Tuesday, thinking that I would be reeling from the shock of the announcement that was made at 20:30 hours yesterday. I honestly thought that some measures would be put in place, that we could all get behind, that would make a real difference.
I am actually reeling - but at the belief that we are fucked. Nothing is being done. The only thing that I can think about is Boris in "makeup" before his TV shows. He must say "Mess my hair up a bit love, it makes me look so much more endearing".
I have always thought him to be a total cock, and when he became Mayor of London, I just thought that the twats that voted him in, get everything that they deserve. What happens next? He becomes PM of our government. We are fucked.
I then thought exactly the same about that total fucking arse Trump. Guess where he ended up?
So. This has been repeated endlessly, but we have the two biggest fucking arseholes that have ever lived, in charge of two nations. Putin anyone? will he save us.
The future looks very grim indeed.
We have them both now.

This is a scary time, good luck with everything mate. I'm incredibly grateful and lucky that I probably have a job through January & can work remotely. But after that, who knows? My generation just spent more than a decade digging our way out of an awful financial hole, and if the response is similar this time then the few people with a chunk of money to invest in stocks or buy up cheaper houses during the dip will be pretty well off, and the rest of us without Mummy & Daddy's money or a cushy financial job will spend another decade digging ourselves out and converting more dining rooms & offices into bedrooms for our shared houses. The recovery needs to be handled far better this time than it was last time, or it's gonna be pretty grim and unequal.

We have them both now. From what I've heard he's not doing proper lockdown because he needs to get this vote done that will effectively give him power for life. We'll get through this, and we need to learn to vote for competence and stability. Free democracies must survive, and maybe this shock will teach enough people to handle things better.

It really does not matter what you have heard - this guy is a total fucking nut job. Take any Primary School teacher and appoint him/her as PM - they will do a far better job. I really do apologise to any Primary School teachers that I may have offended.

So our leader wants to "push down" on this rising bump of virus?
He has pushed the wash your hands and sing Happy Birthday - and now takes his next important step to a new level. We all wait in anticipation, what will he say?
Stay at home. WOW Is that the best that he has got!
But didn't he say that at the start? Confusion over who should stay at home? The Tubes are all running so there must be many that do not need to stay at home? Who is allowed to use the Tubes? Just NHS workers, or can employees that work in the finance industry be allowed a ticket? I would think that anyone that works in Finance can be classified as Essential? Well at least in the very clouded, brain dead eyes of our Boris.

The start was in China. Maybe would be more manageable if the Chinese "Govt" had been more forthcoming with information as soon as they realised. International travel has spread the virus globally. Maybe best to close all transportation stations, at least for a month or two. Some people want to go home, some people want to stay where they are. Limiting your potential to catch the virus is much more important. Non Essential Travel is exactly that...

Not sure where they got it from but BBC has a list of shops that can stay open. www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52011915Supermarkets and other food shops Pharmacies Petrol stations Newsagents Bicycle shops Home and hardware stores Laundrettes and dry cleaners Garages Pet shops Post Offices Banks "However, retailers will still be able to take online orders and deliver items to your home." so a clothes shop has to close where it may have 10 people in at any one time but a distribution warehouse that employs hundreds can stay open🤔

Sky now saying, that if you can't work from home, you should still go into work ... Isn't that the same as before? Looking at the way this apparent lockdown is going I'm starting to think that the government are putting money ahead of people lives. It's not that complicated and other countries have rolled them out in a straight forward and clear manner. Can't get my head around sports direct remaining open, if that's true. You can order all that stuff online.

I see Trump is already talking about opening things back up again regardless of whether the virus is under control or not.
No doubt behind the scenes there are discusions along the lines of 'how many dead people can we get away with and still get re-elected' going on.

He won't want China getting back to normal before the US will he. That could be catastrophic for the US economy if China get a significant advantage over them for a decent period of time. Trump will have no hesitation sacrificing people to stop that from happening.

Waking up to seeing Sports Direct staying open makes a mockery of the whole thing.
I'm under the key worker label being a gas engineer but when my boss is booking none essential jobs just so he can justify staying open it's a joke. I dont mind if these breakdown leaving no heating/hot water but come on. Been too 2 elderly ladies houses and 2 large care homes in 2 days for work that isn't life or death or an emergency. Depressing to think I'm probably going get it at some point. Hope years of smoking and ignoring the drs doesn't bite me on the arse

Would have expected the Sentinel to have some mother of 18 stood outside a closed branch of Greggs looking all greasy and confused to be honest complaining that she can no longer feed her kids iced buns and sausage rolls.

I’m a self employed kitchen fitter and if they offered something better than SSP I’d happily stay at home, luckily I’m working in an empty house on my own at the moment. Straight there straight back. And yes Mike Ashley wants arresting!

He never said it except for when he said it then glad we cleared that up. Its only a shambles if people arent able to think about it for themselves, stay at home too cryptic hey. The words ‘common’ and ‘sense’ are lost to many on here. It's frightening isn't it.... we've gone from What's in a word to What's in a tweet. Intelligence and common sense can sometimes be uneasy bedfellows.

Michael Gove on TV now, clear as fucking mud. Pathetic. And it's quite clear that the government haven't really thought this "lockdown" properly. Kids cannot quite rightly move from house to house if their parents have split, but construction workers can all keep going to work. It's a mess.

If a person has a shift starting at Sports Direct at 09:00, is it common sense to stay at home and resign from their job?

Sounds like a good plan 👍 I thought last night was going to be announcement locking London down tbh. Do it proper, do it harsh and sort that out. 1) because it’s a hotspot and 2) almost like putting someone’s head on a stick on your city wall back in the day, it acts as a deterrent. What we got was toss really.
