Although weirdly some were wearing them before going in, and putting them on when they left and walking in the open air, a bit strange There's a picture of Harry Styles all over social media wearing a mask at the awards with many people commenting on how great he looks. Masks are obviously becoming more of a fashion accessory among the young than something that is supposed to keep them safe. Sad times. Did he make it from his grannies curtains like the suit he had on ?

What are the rules to follow? Is it optional or a must? At the moment, masks are required inside venues like shops and if going inside to the toilet in a bar, restaurant, picking up your takeaway etc. My favourite is the gym where I have to put a mask on to go and sign in but once I'm exercising, sweating and breathing heavily, its perfectly fine to not have it on.

In the interests of balance the KLF were representing operation mind fuck by wearing tin foil lined flat caps at an illegal dog race in Rotherham.

Government starting to talk about regional restrictions again and saying they "won't rule it out but don't really want to do it"
I notice Scotland are doing exactly that again with a certain area being left behind as the rest opens up.
Considering how much of a car crash the tier system was last year I can't believe the government would go down that road again. Certainly not an irreversible way out anyway.
Problem is, the government saying they don't want to do something generally means they will end up doing it

Guardian with a doom mongering article about the Indian variant. Saw a similar one earlier as well from our friends at SAGE, saying that this variant is of enough concern to delay the reopening. There's never been a more desperate attempt at clutching straws.

You only have to have a quick scan of the bbc news site to see how excited they are about the new Indian variant in Bolton.

Looks like it's Independent SAGE mate. Doesn't surprise me. SAGE (Independent or otherwise) are getting really tiresome now. Imagine the scenes if they actually got their way and unlocking was delayed because of nothing but fear - insanity. As Werrington says, the media are stirring the pot giving them airtime they just don't need. I wonder if their members are so scared, are they all going to lock themselves at home or will they be going out for some food and drink along with the rest of us?

Back from the Health Clinic. Had to wait 50 mins after the Pfizer shot 1st dose, for observation. Had three nurses, who went in and out the room.
Sweaty, high pulse, warm eyes. Feeling ok though.
"If you die it will happen within 1-3 hours" one of the nurses totally seriously told me. "But I recommend you call 112, the emergency, if you feel that bad." 😝
I handed in a complete list of reactions I've had from different kind of medicine throughout my life, for them to scan and put in the medical journal. They didn't have such a compilation before and were grateful.

It will probably be after all the foreign politicians etc have been over here in Cornwall in June. Never ever believe a single word any Government tells you...they can’t help but lie.

I've always been of the mind that our roadmap deliberately ensures the summit in Cornwall would be able to go ahead with little to no restrictions for the foreign leaders. Let's be under no illusions Boris is only interested in this event going ahead as planned and probably explains why he is so fixated in not bringing anything forward in case it puts his prized summit at risk. However he needs to have a word with his mate Grant Shapps because most of the leaders will have to quarantine (or it magically doesn't apply to them)

I'll bet that it depends 100% on variants. If the vaccines stay highly effective and people keep getting them then there is no way we'll see harsher restrictions. Worst case will be local closures where there aren't enough vaccinated people. The only way it'll get worse is if there's a study like this one but the results are the opposite, and we'll see it coming because major news stories will specifically be about how there was a proper scientific analysis and the vaccines aren't effective against X variant. Despite the hysteria, that's my bet. EDIT: if a lot of people go anti-vaxx and we end up low on number of people vaccinated, then there might also be restrictions later in the year too. But if ~90% of people are vaccinated then it'll be fine.

They are too predictable. So, the Indian scare-iant is so bad that Chairman Honey Monster hasn't closed any flights during it all. It's either dangerous and he is guilty of wilful neglect, or it's not dangerous and it's been used as an excuse for more tyranny. Which is it?

Recall a number of years we went for a night out in Burslem with my wife’s friend and her posh boyfriend at the time, her boyfriend looked totally unimpressed with the area and really out of his comfort zone. Anyway I went for a pee and he came along and when we entered the toilet there was a good inch of urine on the floor which he stood in, the look on his face was one of utter disgust, he turned to me and said “can this night actually get any worse” to which I replied “yes mate your laces are undone”, they actually were. Absolutely classic

Anyone know why "variants" are never less transmissible or a weaker, less dangerous strain?
Appreciate it doesn't suit the scare mongering agenda but surely the law of averages tells us a new, weaker strain will appear at some point?
