They also reported a story about penkhull and Stoke being hotspots, then listed the 6 highest places which included Packmoor and Weston Coyney but no Stoke or Penkhull. Proper shit rag. Oi don’t slag off our local institution. I was most interested to read about the “Stokie mum of 4 still waiting for £36 compensation after a carpet fitter walked through the house with his muddy boots on”. This is absolutely essential journalism!

Bugger. Glastonbury already gone and now Download too. 😔 I actually don’t think it’s 100% on the restrictions this, I think it’s because festivals like Glastonbury and Download require that much planning and resource that unless we opened up literally today then there’s no way they’d be able to organise everything in time for June. I am surprised it’s not just been moved to August however, Creamfields is then and that’s going ahead, can only think as above they just haven’t got the time to liaise with all the bands and their agents, agree fees, agree security, agree who’s putting the stages together, sorting out tickets etc and Creamfields chucked their bollocks in a basket by being of the mindset that we’d be back to normal by August and got everything sorted at the back end of last year.

I’m not sure about lied to, but certainly mislead and unnecessarily scared. Why not just use honest ‘tactics’ or information to get the public to adhere to rules. Why scare those already doing their best, the ones breaking rules don’t give a shit, so scaring them ain’t the right approach. The only true media story of the last six months is posted above. Not a single media outlet investigating it or raising it either is there?

Why are charity shops closed yet professional football isn’t? Charity is not essential, professional sport is - clearly!

Walked through forest park on Saturday. It was rammed. Hundreds of kids playing, people enjoying the sunshine. It was great.

We’re blatantly being lied to and have been since the start. There is plenty of time yet for lots of new variants...just wait and see. The Government are crapping themselves now the weather is getting better and the numbers are going in the right direction. They will drag all this shit on for months yet...they don’t want us out and about until June when the big world leaders meeting is due in Cornwall. Then they can say to all these leaders “ look how well we’ve done...everyone is out and about...aren’t we great”. Shhh, don't tell anyone but it's also Boris' birthday on June 19th. Nice coincidence. Wonder if he's looking forward a pint or two? 🤔

If Download knew that they were 100% guaranteed to be able to let people in in June then they wouldn't have cancelled, it's ALL about the restrictions. Negotiations with agents, fees for bands etc. are done months, sometimes, years in advance. The problem now, is that the they can't get insurance against the event not being given the all clear at the last minute. It's all very well Reading, Leeds and Creamfields saying that they're still going ahead but they're not due to happen until the end of August but ultimately they could still go to, indeed if Download had booked all their bands for the end of the summer, then they wouldn't have had to cancel now either. The real kicker for the June festivals (and almost certainly some of the July festivals) is if come the time, it turns out that they would have, after all, been allowed to happen. In Germany, the government have put aside millions to protect all their festivals, so that they don't have to cancel early, our government wouldn't do that, hence the reason for cancellations beginning here already.

Unquestionably Mutters ... www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-56199403The Association of Independent Festivals (AIF) says the "2021 festival season is by no means guaranteed at this point" and that "major festivals such as Reading and Leeds are not a barometer for the whole market." They add: "There is still the chance of widespread cancellations if data around covid cases does not meet the Government's requirements and lockdown easing is delayed. "It is still an enormous risk for any independent festival to commit costs and proceed up to June 14 without insurance. "We therefore once again call on the Government to urgently intervene with a Government-backed insurance scheme and extend the VAT reduction to 5% beyond the end of March."

That's great, thanks. But why can't our Government update their own dashboard? Downing St put this out every day but today’s isn’t out yet, this is yesterday’s I've seen several tweets tonight claiming that the latest hospital admissions figure is 624, but I can't find a source for the information.

I see Boris has offered to host the whole of the Euros. Whether there will be crowds or not the piece on Sky news does not say. Either way how can he be so confident that we will be open for business as usual ? I’m convinced he knows exactly when this shit show is going end already...they are treating us like idiots.

I put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the blonde buffoon. he is clueless, another example is announcing weeks before implementation that people on incoming flights from "red" area countries would be required to stay in a secure hotel for 2 weeks at a cost of £1750 inviting people to save money by travelling earlier? I find it hard to trust a man who has 5 children by 5 women and is still single the man has standards whatsoever.

Bizarre song and dance about the 'Brazilian variant' and a massive man hunt for a single person when its more than likely there'll be many other cases of this (and other variants) in the country. Even if it is more resistant to the vaccine, it's unlikely to make them completely ineffective and 50% efficacy was initially considered to be acceptable.
