Over 5,000 confirmed cases in the UK now, but only 20 classed as critical/serious.
Seems very low?

Based on UK and Italy have a very similar trajectory with a 2 week gap. Then based on London being by far the most affected of the UK figures (at least that's what I saw) Madrid is the same for Spain. There appears to be an epicenter in every country. How are we following the same trajectory? Italy has even surpassed China. Italy is on it’s own trajectory. Stay safe mate. I don't think it is. Read the figures above. UK just happens to be 2 weeks behind Italy.

I'm not sure whether to believe this or not (Maybe MilanStokie has more info?) But this is from the Twitter verified account of "China's national English language newspaper" with nearly two million followers, posted in early February... Don't really know much about it, but it wouldn't explain why lombardia is struggling and Tuscany less so. For me it can only be far too many people are just ignoring the law. Dario Nardella, the Mayor of Florence actually retweeted that.

Based on the cultural aspect of families living together I would expect similar or worse fatality rates in Mediterranean countries, Africa as a whole and the Middle East. India and Africa haven’t seen anything like Europe. Is it a climate thing? Probably a lack of monitoring capabilities. Wouldn't surprise me if alot of people are dying but they're putting it down to other reasons or just not collectively monitoring things. Based on the Italy situation I can't imagine China suddenly have 2 days of no new cases or that Iran isn't at least just as bad.

Are you being serious? I've just actually had a very weird cold that has lasted since around the end of January, before all this properly kicked off, mixed with a very strange cough. Lack of taste or smell was also very prevalent. Never had the fever though and chest was clear. I also had these same symptoms in January. I went to the Megadeth show on Jan 31st at Wembley Arena, and about a week after it I had had no smell, no taste, snotty nose, rubbish in chest, and felt worse than any cold I've ever had. It was could barely move out of bed on day 1 of it bad. I never thought of attributing it to the coronavirus though, at the time I just thought some fucker near us had a bog standard cold and passed it on. I wonder... I've had a few bad colds over the years that have left me with no sense of smell or taste for a period afterwards. Be very careful about self diagnosing.

Sweden wont close any schools down, for several reasons:
* The crime rate would increase enormously, especially in the largest cities suburbans. "Because they have nothing else to do then", the politicians argue. 😆
* If the smaller kids don't go to school, who are going to look after them? Normally grandparents when the parents work. So it would increase the number of Corona cases and do so in a very nasty way, by making the oldest and most vulnerable sick.
* If it makes the parents stay at home for their kids, who is going to work at hospitals etc?

Another 800 dead in Italy?! That’s just mad. How close is the UK following Italy in terms of number of deaths? It may have nothing to do with it but Italians do great each other by kissing

It doesn't mean at all that we are getting scared, frightened or anything else. "Concerned" would be more accurate, and also a reasonable response.
"Stepping back" and carrying on , could actually be the last thing that we need to be doing.
What drove those fucking nut jobs to clear out the stocks in supermarkets is anyones's guess. I don't think that it would be too difficult to start a rumour on Twatter that tanker drivers are not able to supply petrol stations (through self isolation), and the same brain dead cunts would start a fuel shortage.

The army were being deployed on Thursday night according to 2/3 on here. Stuff like that pisses me off.

You’ve taken my use of the phrase “ step back” not on the text I meant it clem I’m as concerned as the next person but all this Italy stuff is ( hopefully) not a guaranteed.....that was my point

I don't think it is. Read the figures above. UK just happens to be 2 weeks behind Italy. Explain China then? You know I can't. Nor do I trust the data coming from China. As I said, maybe Italy is an anomaly but the data does not look good. You have seen what's going on in Italy so the message is to just stay safe mate, that's all.

Latest:
On the radio
Sweden have an estimation of 40.000 Corona cases.
We test very few, basically only the ones coming into the hospital by ambulance, to be treated at the intensive care unit!! Not even the staff at hospitals or at senior homes.
Common people can't get a test anywhere. Everyone who calls the special number might be diagnosed with Corona, even if it's just a cold or another flu. Therefore, the estimation might be large?

The army were being deployed on Thursday night according to 2/3 on here. Stuff like that pisses me off. It pisses me off also. The thing is - I was just told "You might want to do some shopping tomorrow".Nothing more than that. My wife would be in the high risk category. This came from a ranking police officer. He was offering a mate some friendly advice. I simply cannot believe that he was responding to rumours on the usual channels. I then came on this MB, and the rumours were rife.
Whatever it was all about, it seems that the army were put "in readiness" before the schools closed. Anticipation of looting maybe? I have no idea.

I thought the recommendation was that elderly and vulnerable people shouldn't go out at all. Is this suggesting they should? Or does it mean that if you are shopping on behalf of someone elderly or vulnerable you can use these times??
