Nothing in it for me financially but so what. Pubs closed I will save a fortune. At least I won’t have a tax bill at the end of this year. May qualify for a tax rebate but at this rate they may have no money left.! Good luck everybody. How old are you mate? I thought you were retired? I am old and vulnerable 😃 In years. 35ish In attitude. I am one of these people often vilified, a landlord. My tenant (commercial) has said she can not pay the rent. Told her don’t worry about it, and wash your hands. 😏

I'll be honest, we have a feeling that the walls are closing in, feels like it's only a matter of time... Extremely odd feeling. I have an autoimmune disease that has an issue with vasculitis and directly affects the lungs so I am very worried all the time. Personally I've not left my property now since I packed my stuff up to work from home 11 days ago. My partner shops and I stay at home with the kids. I'm now worried for my parents who own their own small business in Fenton and can't yet afford to shut up shop. I need them to close the doors and go home... They are 70. Hanging in as best we can. Really feel for you mate. The numbers coming out of Italy are frightening. I hope the UK doesnt go the same way, but our numbers keep going up and up too. How anybody can be in any doubt of the severity of this thing is beyond me. We need to shut everything down and follow the social distancing guidelines as strictly as possible.

Hard as it is to say this stressing is the worst thing you can do. Stay strong and maybe stay offline for a while and read or watch something different and unrelated. Laughter helps. Keep us up to date though. Although there are some twats on here most are decent folk and do care.

Nope, it's because you are actually a small minded little bigot you get called a racist who is just clever enough to know how to skirt around it so they don't get banned. You spiteful racist.Ha ha took you at least 3 edits to get that out, I like the bold bit at the end the most, really powerful stuff. Little minded Gary Patel.

Though they could move to stocking food, household goods and pharmaceuticals. Keep more people employed and reduce the concentrations of people in Asda, Tesco etc. That said I wouldn't mind some paint - was going to do a bit of decorating to pass the time during lockdown. I hope you won’t stockpile paint. There is going to be a lot of decorating going on! You'll be fine for paint. Don't bank on any sandpaper though. I've been using it for the last fornight to wipe my arse.

Austin suspects that he may have picked up the virus when he was at the Cheltenham Festival last week The Director General of the WHO was on the news speaking directly to young people under 50 in respect of their responsibility to themselves and the wider public. He stressed that people in their age category who are healthy are turning up for 2 to 3 week stays in hospitals.

Where can we get the "devil in the detail" for this 80% of wages announcement?
I assume that doesn't force a company to retain its staff? If they do let you go, can you still claim it? And for how long?

We've traced the source, but why would that help? There's nothing in the 'source' that changes what we do to solve the issues Really if there is a security issue that has caused this pandemic to occur be it illegal "wet markets" or an escape of virus from a" laboratory" they need addressing, it's no coincidence that a number of these pandemics originate from the PRC. It didn't escape a lab, it came from eating meat. The same as avian flu, Ebola, HIV, swine flu, SARS. From different parts of the world, eating different animals, in different places. It's nothing to do with China or communism before you say it. Knowing it came from china makes no difference. The only thing you could draw from all these things is actually the question of whether we should eat meat.

Rishi Sunak is excellent, future PM for sure. Agreed and to think many of the left on here were questioning his credentials a few weeks ago thank god Labour are nowhere near handling this pandemic. Yeah Labour would've never done the things this chancellor has done eh? The NHS is miles better off now eh?

This is obviously going to dominate everyone's lives for the foreseeable future....every aspect of our lives....for 12 months? Does anyone feel that they don't want to hear the latest daily news/ measures/ updates for a few days? Not being in denial, turning a blind eye to it, probably the opposite, just wanting a mental ( and physical ) couple of days break.Where's " life" gone?

Pubs, clubs and restaurants shutting tonight. I hope you've got plenty of booze in cos that's the next thing you won't be able to buy in the shops. Be like the prohibition era, we may see the return of the Speakeasy ! Said this the other week. Special knock on the door and a password to get in.

And for how long? To get the 80% of wages it does force firms to retain staff, if they have already let staff go as long as they take them back on they get the 80% wages, firms would have to be pretty stupid to lay people off now effectively they can retain staff for 5 months at the cost of paying 1 months wages, goes on as long as needed.

I think our garden is going to get plenty of attention over the next few weeks, plus some decorating and lots of long walks. I don't "do" social media...thankfully! The beauty of this site is that it retains a healthy balance of humanity, comedy and bigotry Stay safe everyone, and...Wash your hands!

Just horrendous. They put the daily tables here, and I've been checking each day... the number in intensive care is still increasing in all the worst hit regions - 1,100 in Lombardy right now, versus 1,050 yesterday. I was really, really hoping they'd hit the peak but now I'm not sure there are any signs of that. I went to a small LA brewery to pick up some beers at the beginning of the week and the guy in front of me in the queue was saying that California are just a bunch of massive pussies for closing things down. I wonder whether he'll feel the same in a month or so. The peak was due 1st week in April, now they think mid April. I'm thinking closer to may but that's only on the basis of getting some sort of control which seems to be failing dreadfully. Scary, in bocca al lupo! Fully expecting Italian lockdown food at least to be better than the slop I'll be feeding myself. The UK is finally taking action. I have no idea whether it's enough but our government seems to be getting there and I wish I was at home right now. California's taking action, but team Trump decided to pump the stock market so they could move their finances around and make bank instead of trying to protect people in the US. The delays and constant fuckups from the Trump administration is gonna kill a lot of people, but I guess at least they'll have an even bigger pile of money now.

Ayup lads n lasses.
Here in Lanzarote (I have been resident 20 years) we have been on lockdown since last Saturday, 6 days in and 9 to go. Its no fun, in fact unimaginable in our day and age. The first few days seemed OK, a bit of a novelty, we have a 5 year old lad he is now climbing the fucking walls. The police here are strict on the movement, only supermarket, pharmacy and key workers. Any one else out without proven reason is fined heavily. It seems to be working, we had only 3 cases initially (Spanish tourists, recovered) and have NO OTHER CASES since. I cant believe how the UK has been so slow to handle this, I can see it spiraling out of control very soon. Cheltenham!! For fucks sake!!! Anyway, my advice is when you do lockdown (with kids!) is have an itinerary of activities every day, and get plenty of paint and booze in!! At least its 20 degrees here and we can get in the pool every day, stay safe Stokies!!
