Just imagine if all those city workers weren't working from home, packing trains and buses from the outlying towns every morning and night like they would have normally, going to all the shops, cafe's and bars at lunchtime and in the evening, in the theatres and clubs, that chart would have still looked the same wouldn't it? Would it? ONS data shows that the huge increase in "cases" during November and December hasn't translated into increased mortality. Aren't you always saying that the PCR tests are useless and about only 7% of cases are real, so are you now contradicting your own posts to counter a discussion by bringing in data you don't agree with? Are the cases real or not ? We've learnt how to treat this disease better and survival rates are better than the 1st wave, and as I've asked before and you've not answered, why is it always about deaths and not bad cases and long term affects of it. We've seen how long covid can affect two super fit footballers at Newcastle, how many general people are affected by it? The numbers you've posted were under restricted contact, just imagine a couple of million extra people a day unrestricted going in and out of London and all the people who work in the shops, pubs, bars, cafes, restaurants, that they use, that graph would not look the same

Were all the hospitals still treating normal stuff back then, cancer, hip replacements etc. we seem to be told on here that we've had to stop all those for a non pandemic There has been work in a lot of hospitals this year to make them more flexible to allow the amount of beds to be released to covid easier www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/01/02/nhs-hospitals-ordered-cancel-routine-operations-january/EVERY hospital in the country has been ordered to cancel all non-urgent surgery until at least February in an unprecedented step by NHS officials. The instructions on Tuesday night - which will result in around 50,000 operations being axed - followed claims by senior doctors that patients were being treated in “third world” conditions, as hospital chief executives warned of the worst winter crisis for three decades. Hospitals are reporting growing chaos, with a spike in winter flu leaving frail patients facing 12-hour waits, and some units running out of corridor space. Sir Bruce Keogh, NHS medical director, on Tuesday ordered NHS trusts to stop taking all but the most urgent cases, closing outpatients clinics for weeks as well as cancelling around 50,000 planned operations.
