Sorry mate, maybe it's me but you're going to have to hit me with that again because I've read it back several times and I'm still not getting the point you're making. Let's say in fictitious land there are : 100,000 people over 70 yrs old. 60% get the virus = 60,000 of which 50% need CCU = 30,000 Over 70 in CCU 900,000 people aged 19-70 yrs old. 80% get the virus (spring break etc) = 810,000 of which 10% need CCU = 81,000 19-70 in CCU. News reports - Almost 3 times as many people aged 19-70 are in CCU as those over 70. I'll try and keep it simple ... www.independent.co.uk/news/health/coronavirus-italy-hospitals-doctor-lockdown-quarantine-intensive-care-a9401186.htmlDescribing the difficulties caring for patients she said: “We are making difficult choices.” “I know from talking to colleagues in Lombardia, the most affected region in Italy, that they are using a cut off of 65-years-old in case of pre-existing comorbidities."

From what I've heard, the time and the amount of the Corona virus you've been exposed to plays a big part in how sick you become.
A homeless dizzy mentally challenged person turned and sneezed all of a sudden unexpectedly directly in my face a week ago. I had his mucus dripping in my eyes and forehead.
Two weeks ago I passed a person on the pavement who spoke to someone on his mobile phone. He had just been on work in China with his best friend, he said, who caught the Corona Virus and couldn't get back home now.
A week ago a lady talked loudly on the bus straight in my right ear on her mobile phone half a meter to the right of me. She apparently had a child and her child's best friend in school had a father with the Corona virus at home. She asked if he should be allowed to send his kid to school then?!
And at Lidl an english guy (sorry) a few days ago coughed all over the place on just about everything, including me. He had a high fever, it showed.
Tomorrow will be the last day for some weeks I will leave the appartment.

The one useful thing I can think of learning from this is finding out clearly which companies are scum, then if they make it through this shitshow then trying to make sure everyone I know never gives money to the companies run by proper shitguzzling management ever again. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. It shouldn't be allowed in 2020 Britain, as a society, what have we become?

The economic consequences of this Virus are interesting.
Who is profiting from this Virus?
Huge mega organisations.....Amazon, Netflix etc. All the big supermarkets are rammed. Insurance companies are being protected by the Govt.
Small shops/businesses the ones that are able to stay open (and most don't have the resources) are full of produce but empty of people. Small businesses cannot survive in this system and are effectively being weeded out.
We are seeing a continuation of a massive shift into all business being controlled by huge corporates and this is strengthening their position. They are all profiting from it.
Small businesses are going under while big businesses are going to either profit or be bailed out by the Government. Very little interest in supporting small businesses.

This is the editor of the lancet who has been shouting how we have done it all wrong and some people were treating as some kind of prophet.

How many people do they test in different countries?
In Sweden very very few; only the most sick, the one's who need to be treated at the hospital.
They used to test the medical staff as well (doctors and nurses etc), but have decreased that number now.
Practically noone else gets tested.

CORONAVIRUS
Paul Spencer Avatar 2 hours ago Paul Spencer said:
The worry is ... is the number of people in intensive care aged under 70 due to there being more people under 70 requiring it, or is it because the doctors can't justify making ICU's available to the old and are simply having to let them die?
It's one or the other and whichever one it is, it is bloody terrifying.
The total number of people 19-70 is probably many times the total number of people 70+. Given that many people in the younger pool have chronic illnesses, I think its purely mathematical and not the causes you suggest.Which, as you can see makes no mention of any quotes from italy (and by the way I was wrong ... UK has 14% of people over 70 not 10% as per my example). So, when someone says 50% of the people needing CCU are under 70, it is absolutely no surprize to me. I just dont see how people working themselves into a frenzy helps in the slightest bit. Clearly I'm in the minority on here, so I'll sign off and see y'all when the next matchday thread boots this stream of whining conjecture off the top of the message board. Keep safe everyone and see you for the next game.

Everyone’s an expert that’s part of the problem and some seem to really enjoy the negativity and being the prophets of doom. It is what it is an awful virus but nothing we can do but listen to what the government say. Unfortunately we have some idiots around who think they’re above that and are happy doing there own thing and happy to infect those more vulnerable.

So my pension plan is a nearby flat that I rent out to a lovely couple who work in the now almost totally defunct service industry. I spoke to them a couple of days ago and dropped the rent substantially, the fact is given the base rate news, I may be able to do more now. This isn't great for me but I am in a good place compared to a lot of people on this board. So what's my point?
My point is that the government should be asking all landlords who can to do the same, to do exactly that. Not just that but the really big landlords should be leading the charge and making a gesture that others can follow, Prince Charles, The Duke of Westminster, Robbie Fowler whoever. Why is there silence on this issue. We need a high profile landlord to step up and show a lead on this!

Why is there silence on this issue. We need a high profile landlord to step up and show a lead on this! I thought that detailed news on the provisions that are to be made was coming tomorrow (well today now). I also feel sure that over the coming days (weeks and months? Pray God not years) more will come.
I am in a similar boat - my main income these days is my rental. Should that source of income cease, I have problems. Should my tenant get into difficulties re this virus, I most certainly will not be taking eviction proceedings. Ever. Let us see what tomorrow brings. We are all in this mess together - why not us all try and "get by", until the mess ends. We can sort the details later.
I have already received an email from my credit card company stating that I do not need to apply for help with a "repayment holiday", everything is in place. If I miss payments, nothing will happen, no charges, penalties or surcharges. I wasn't expecting that!
Unlike other people on here I do not have a wife and kids to feed (Been there done that, for most of my life). I fully expect my fully fledged children to turn to the Bank of Dad, if things get bad (they do have wives and kids to feed). They will not be let down - I have my credit card As I said, we can sort the details out later.
We all look at other nationalities and admire their commitment to "family". "Family" isn't quite dead yet here in England.

The Bahamas has gone tits up today.
As of March 20th, no going to work, and a fucking curfew from 9pm until 5am every day. The economy here , including my business is totally fucked.

I will say - as improbable as it seems at the moment, these things do eventually work themselves out, often for the better.
Hang in there mate. I have been in the deepest of deep shit, and that sort of advice didn't really help - but it did work out to be true. (It took a few years - but I came out better).

Dunno how many are tested here in Germany but the testing programme is pretty well organised (as one might expect). If you develop symptoms you call your GP or the emergency doctors number. (It can take a long time to get through.) If it seems you have the virus they give you a number, and a time slot, which you take to one of the drive-in testing centres. Dunno what you do if you don't have a car but in the queue of the nearest one to me (just a few hundred meters away on the Oktoberfest site) I saw at least two car-sharing cars. The test itself takes only a few minutes - swab on the back of the throat which does not taste nice, apparently. Most of the time is taken up with paper work. If you test positive you get the result back in a few hours, if negative then a few days!

Hopefully this piece of shit gets the virus and perishes. Meanwhile lets send out billions a year in 'aid' to other countries. The £130 billion we have sent out to other countries in aid in the last 10 years alone might have helped a tad during our own crisis, I dont see many sending us 'Aid'.

I’m looking at about 100 over 70’s queuing up outside m&s wolstanton waiting for it to open. Thick twats. To be fair, they're probably just trying to beat the 'inconsiderates' to the basic supplies that no-one needs to stockpile. I do feel for the elderly, who've got no chance in this current climate.

Word is they are about to be banished to their homes for 4 long months while the rest of us catch the virus in a managed way and build up some societal immunity. Must admit if I thought I was about to be homebound for months then I'd get a few things in. They'd look even thicker if they rocked up at 3pm by which time the store will be no doubt be empty :-)

Despite Hackets posts generally people under 50 on the whole should get through this in one piece. We need to support the elderly not heckle them.
