Me neither 🤣 But surely you can see many reasons why people would be left with no alternative but to get out of dodge? But at the cost of spreading this new strain to other areas🤔 Look at Franklin’s sons situation, wander the streets looking for the last room in the inn (if he could afford it) or come home. For me it would be a no brainer

But isn't it a new and more virulent strain? If we didn't already have herd immunity to covid 19 based on other commonly encountered coronaviruses, then why should we have herd immunity to his big bad brother, covid 20, based on his already encountered little brother? It's still covid 19 but a mutated version. Covid 20 has a nice ring to it though doesn't it. Expect to hear it in a briefing in the next week or so. Oh - I found that evidence on how much more dangerous the new strain is: Oh. erm, ok. Well I'm sure it definitely exists and it's definitely 'sobering'. That guy who hadn't seen a woman until last year said so.

He got another job this Thursday in Milton Keynes and he's out of work on Saturday. He couldn't stay in his hotel he was booked in as it was closing so had to come home. To suggest any other alternative is just ridiculous.

I shall because I can’t see a rational counter-argument. The job of the opposition is to hold the incumbent government to account, there has been no meaningful opposition to an appalling government for several years, prior to the last election and now. Have you missed Starmer forensically dismantling Bozo the Clown's bluster and bollocks at almost every PMQS held since he became Labour leader? Forensically dismantling?!? Yes, we’ll played that man, doing what anybody on this board could do to the towering intellect that is BoJo and his governments logic. Have you missed the gallant Sir Kier getting splinters in his arse from all that fence sitting?

Not sure why Admin stopped us discussing football, but I can see it being suspended any day soon, 5 games off today, and with Tier 4 now in place surely teams and all the peripheral entourage should not be travelling.

Me and the missus paid his rent for months while he looked for work and he eventually got some casual work just enough to allow us to reduce our costs. My youngest lost his job in April also abroad and we then had two to help I don't mind one bit but its in the double figures of thousands to help them both. Eventually though we had nothing left just as my youngest got full time work so he's fine now. However the eldest just couldn't find regular work and we were all devastated but he had to come home. Then this its the reality of the situation its destroyed lives.

Plans to post millions of rapid testing kits to homes are BLOCKED by regulator amid fears they are not accurate enough when people test themselves. Boris Johnson's plan to post millions of testing kits to homes each week in the hope of avoiding a third national lockdown have been blocked by the regulator. The Prime Minister and Health Secretary Matt Hancock have repeatedly said that the lateral flow tests, which deliver results in 30 minutes, could help to bring down infection rates in regions hit hard by Covid-19. But the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) believes the lateral flow tests are not accurate enough when people test themselves - dampening hopes that they could help to avoid a new lockdown. The tests only pick up around 49 per cent of infections when used by ordinary people. And Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said last week teachers would administer the tests to pupils when they return to schools next month.   www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9070221/amp/Plans-post-millions-rapid-testing-kits-homes-BLOCKED-regulator-accuracy-fears.html?__twitter_impression=true

Ah, even in the midst of another expose of this government’s incompetence, those who voted Tory instead of Labour need to convince themselves we would have been worse off under Corbyn. Let me tell you, hundreds more elderly people would still be alive today if Jezza had made it to No 10. But you reap what you sow. Holy bollocks mate, that is some revisionist shit - Corby made himself totally unelectable - this bunch of bastards virtually ran unopposed. Don't tell red huddy though...

You administer the test yourself (and are paid £25 per person who is tested in the household). I'm certain that lots of people on the study won't even bother sticking the swab down their throat and up their nose as it's pretty unpleasant when you do it properly. The employee who brings it all to your house will never know and likely won't care either. They're getting paid very well too from what a few of them have told me.

Have you missed the gallant Sir Kier getting splinters in his arse from all that fence sitting? I was just about to post something similar. You can sling as much shit as you like, but Starmer has proved that he’s all talk and no action. Heaven forbid you could actually stand up and be counted when it would be much easier to abstain on any meaningful votes and then stamp your feet and point your fingers afterwards. I can’t stand the government or the opposition. At the last election I was genuinely embarrassed when I spoilt my paper. I couldn’t bring myself to vote for any of them as I couldn’t find one party to represent my values. It’s such a sorry state of affairs that 12 months later after I questioned my own moral compass that I now feel completely vindicated in my decision back then. Moving forward, I hope that people have long memories and when we get the opportunity we cleanse ourselves of this shower of shit currently in Westminster.

Can you point him to the evidence that this new variant is “70% more transmissible than the old variant" though? No but that's got nothing to do with the point I'm making Link us to one of his claims about herd immunity in London then.

Can I ask another question which was completely ignored today but might be significant? Shame journalist don't ask useful questions.
Has anyone said if you can catch one variant and then also catch the other or does your previous antibody or T cell response make this unlikely? Because regardless of the vaccine most of the unvaccinated waiting their turn will have a whole new ball game to deal with.

I've been literally discussing it with the missus this minute. It's absolutely crucial. It's the difference between "It'll all be over by spring" or "lockdown until next Christmas". Edit - but also - is it as dangerous? You'd guess that if it is more easily transmissable then it will also be less dangerous. That's usually the reason that a virus is more transmissable, as more people who have it are fine and can go about their business in the normal way without being bed ridden, or suffering from obvious symptoms
