Great to see my local Solihull mp vote against. This is a bad day for Boris (and for Starmer). Boris is on the ropes in round one and the Covid recovery group (the key is in the name) will grow and grow and grow. Its becoming pretty obvious we are heading into years of economical carnage and with two of the most hapless leaders you'll ever see in Boris and Starmer, these CRG guys are going nowhere and it's great to see. With Big Nige waiting to push the "go" button on Reform UK its fascinating times. A Corbynista break out group is all we need now to really add to the fun 😂 I'd pay good money to watch question time with Nige, Jezza and the two bozos Boris and Starmer...the audience has to be a bunch of avocado crushing, soy latte drinking anoraks too. No holds barred. Not sure why Steve Baker is not named in that list? Because generally he's always been a bit of a twat.

Tegnell is lying again. He says when doing international comparisons you have to compare Sweden as an extremely crowded nation with other extremely crowded countries, like The Netherlands, Belgium, Great Britain and so on - and NOT with Norway and Finland and Denmark, where very few people live per square km.
If you start to tell a lie enough many times, you might be convinced yourself in the end, but you can't fool anyone else anymore.
He is a very lonely man now. I wonder when he will abandon himself.
FYI:
Covid-19 death cases per million citizens:
Belgium 1453 The Netherlands 546 Great Britain 886 Sweden 660 Norway 60 Finland 70
Population density (people per square km):
Belgium 369 The Netherlands 419 Great Britain 267 Sweden 23 Norway 14 Finland 16
(source: Expressen ; official demographic stats)
Bloody frightening!
* And another interesting aspect is migration. Norway and Finland have less of it.

Russia's population density is about 9 people per sq km, but there are massive swathes of Russia where no one lives. Although our population density is fairly high it's still not the full picture as 1/4 of our population live in Greater London (pop density 4542 per sq km) and 1/10 in the Liverpool/Manchester/Leeds corridor (pop density 1381 per sq km). I'd have thought urban population would be a fairer comparison between countries.

I assume the statisticians among them have looked at "urban population" as well, even though I didn't hear or see them mention it yesterday. There are still places on Earth less crowded luckily, Russia as you mentioned has them, so is partly Canada and Australia for instance - and in a northern perspective some parts of Sweden (being the largest country) compared to the rest. Taiwan is interesting. Small crowded place, extremely low numbers of death cases. 🙂

Some very positive news this morning to enable us to look forward to 2021 Hopefully the changes due regarding our relationship with Central Europe, will not hinder the delivery of the Pfizer vaccine which is manufactured in Belgium Looking forward to next season and hopefully crowds filling the stadiums

Taiwan is interesting. Small crowded place, extremely low numbers of death cases. 🙂 And they did it without ever locking down. That's because the Taiwanese government had their shit together, and their people aren't as selfish. As soon as the first cases hit, masks were made mandatory, testing was widespread, and quarantine was strictly enforced for anyone who was exposed. They had loads of PPE stockpiled. Most people already had masks, but they sent everyone masks anyway and continue to. Adults get 10 new masks a month, and children get 20. My relatives in Taiwan accumulated so many government-issued masks that they sent over a hundred to relatives in the United States and Canada including my parents. Meanwhile people in America had to resort to making their own from shirts, bedsheets, yarmulkes, and bra cups. No one in Taiwan was like, "But I have the freedom to not wear a mask waaah waaah. You can't force me to quarantine waaah waaah." By giving up these minor freedoms, they preserved their major freedoms.

I have my very strong doubts. Face nappies, dumb rules, distancing, rights removed, micromanaged lives. And the opportunity to drop restrictions at will. Debt, unemployment, businesses gone ongoing. And there's not a single argument as to why it is necessary, except to access services. Nowt to do with a less serious virus than flu. And it's gene therapy. And the regulators are far from independent.

Swift, direct action, no let's pretend it's not happening club , no belly aching, and guess what not only do they have their freedoms back their economy is expected to grow, yes grow, by 2.5% in 2020. Oh well, next time.

Todays news is the day we start to get our life back and this thread can be eventually be consigned in the oatcake time vaults ....23/3/20-2/12/20 may it just fuck off The FDA (American drug regulatory agency) are so fucking lazy. Instead of calling an urgent meeting to discuss approving the vaccine when the final application was submitted two weeks ago, they've decided to wait until their next regularly scheduled meeting which is on the 10th of December. The tricky part of distribution in the United States is geographical. All states all have their own public health department. Some are more competent than others. Within each state different hospitals will be fighting for the vaccine. A lot will come down to personal connections and politics. The University of Texas Austin Medical Center secured the first doses because one of their medical directors is on some federal vaccine committee. Other places could use it more in terms of current outbreaks.

Do not resuscitate orders are being placed illegally on the medical files of adults with learning disabilities, a charity warned yesterday.
MPs responded by ordering an urgent review into the ‘appalling’ practice, calling for it to be brought to an end by Christmas.
It is feared wrongful use of the orders could be denying vulnerable people life-saving treatment during the pandemic.
Steve Scown of Dimensions UK, a learning disability charity, told the Commons health and social care committee that those his fund helped were ‘not valued as equal members of society’.
He added: ‘We’ve seen that with the number of DNARs (do not attempt resuscitation) that have been placed on people that we support without any consultation with their families or anybody who knows their best interests.Link.

Been saying for long enough that the virus is nothing to worry about so why would they? Either that or don't want any of that German muck but waiting for the less effective British one to be approved. Either way unless you're over 80 yours will be stuck in a queue in Calais. Happy now?
