Wilder may struggle to get fights against people he avoided for so long I can see him retiring or just go back to fighting bums to inflate his KO percentage for when he finally hangs up his gloves. The bloke’s deluded and seems to be a slave to his own ego. If he wants to do anything with what’s left in his career he needs to have a hard look in the mirror, learn some humility and accept some home truths and get rid of the yes men he surrounds himself with. I suspect he won’t! He was found out big style against the first top class fighter he’s ever fought. I suspect he’d have got nowhere near a world title if he was British.

What is his Staffordshire connection? I thought he was brought up in Wilmslow Cheshire. Growing up near Uttoxeter i used a lot of the pubs there in my late teens early 20s . One thing you always needed to watch out for were the Gormans , a large extended family of gypsy's who also used the same pubs in particular on market days and when the racecourse was in action they were out looking for trouble, it was wise not to get on their radar for any reason . I heard fury on the radio tell how he often stayed with his uncle in Uttoxeter his name was Bartley Gorman. Self claimed king of the gypsy's and also world bare knuckle boxing champion. He went on to say how much he loved him and how much he influenced his career . Google Bartley Gorman its a fascinating bit of localish history Did Google Bartley Gorman. What a story. Thanks for the heads up. I used to work with Tyson's cousin, so had a good insight into his background. Met John a couple of times, but knew nothing about Barley. Difficult to see who will defeat Tyson with the back ground he has.
