The "good" thing (if it can be looked at that way) is that at least the issue has now been identified and therefore can be treated appropriately, rather than it being the untraced and unidentified pain in the elbow first reported.

Not sure you can blame england, rashid only plays odi's and has bowled 200 overs, Broad only plays tests and has bowled 367 overs so Archer at 400 does not seem excessive, the lad has been playing cricket virtually non stop with all the franchise stuff for the last 2 years missing the sri lanka series will probably do him some good espicially as he would be flogging a dead horse much of that time bowling in those conditions. He was overused in the Ashes, he bowled nearly 150 overs in 4 tests in a month. He's still a novice in bowling terms..... This was said at the time. Archer actually bowled 156 overs in his 4 tests. Compare that to Broad who bowled130 overs in those tests, Woakes who bowled 95 overs in his 4 tests and Stokes who bowled 95 overs across 5 tests. Sam Curran, btw, bowled 25 overs in his single test. Fucking ridiculous by Root. There is no doubt he has had a significant role in this injury. Let’s hope he wakes up and wisens up. Anyway, good for England that he will be back for the Summer tests. Shame for him that he is missing a pay day in the IPL.

Good to see Moeen and Rashid back in for the white ball format, Rashid has just cleaned bowled de Kock with a beauty as well.... Rashid is a superb bowler. The SA right handers have no idea what to do with him. And, as De Kock, just discovered, even if you are set you don’t take liberties. Such a shame England couldn’t figure out how to use him in test cricket (or to be more specific, Root, as captain, couldn’t.)

We’re turning the screw, so Root brings himself back in and gets clobbered..... Morgan’s the skipper! Root bowling offies wasn’t a bad call seeing as there were two left handers at the crease. In theory. In practice Root is a part time spinner so will bowl the odd bad ball so he runs the risk of getting clobbered. Which he did.

He’s just not a very good spinner despite him getting a 4-for.....

Like a lot of cricket good partnerships then wickets fall and runs look very precious. A good win eventually and the crowd more interested in dancing. Bairstows 6s and no appreciation from the pink crowd.

Good win, we made bloody hard work of it mind.... I thought we were a bit sloppy with the bat. Both openers played like it was a T20 game and a rapid 20 or 30 would be fine when what we needed was one of them to bat long. We weren’t chasing down a score of 350+ so no need to bat like we were. Anyway, next up it’s 3 T20 games and, I think, the return of Stokes and Buttler. I hope they keep Banton in the team - preferably opening or no lower than 3. He looks the real deal.

Final leg of the tour - 3 x T20
The first is underway. England won the toss and chose to bowl.
SA 77-1 after 7 overs.
It’s fair to say, with the exception of Mo’s bowling, we have been shite so far. Bowling, fielding and spunking away a review.
The good news is we will (hopefully) get to see a great run chase from England. Looks like we may need one!

Well, we threw that game away.
We needed 7 runs from 7 balls.
And lost.
How? By trying to get across the line in one hit instead of simply working the ball around for those last 7 balls. Instead we took high risk when we didn’t need to and paid the price.

Just saw Morgan’s wicket. How was that not a no ball. None of his boot was behind the line. That said bad batting at he end. Still think we’re the better side though.

How in Christ's name isn't Jordan bowling this last over. It’s pretty much standard practice these days for your best bowler to bowl the penultimate over. Which is what happened.

Two great games so far. Very good that they have been so close. Performing under pressure can’t be taught. Curran did really well at the death. Invaluable experience for him. As you say 2 brave and superb deliveries to win the game. Even more impressive is that those two deliveries followed a couple of poor deliveries. Nice also to see Mo rediscovering which end of the bat to hold. His knock was awesome.

The batsmen cost us the first game and the bowlers nearly the second, should be 2-0 up but it's 1-1.

Interesting news from Australia where the Lions are playing an Australia XI.
The Lions scored 613 for eight with centuries for Sibley, Jennings (yes - that Jennings) and 190 from Dan Lawrence who, seemingly, is the next bright young thing.
Ok - the pitch may be easy, the bowling not the best, but a core of 600+ is pretty impressive. And it is in Australia. It bodes well for the future because there are still spaces to be had in England’s batting line up. Yes, Mr 30 Denly, that definitely means you. Your time is nearly up.
