Do Labour actually think that the British public would ever vote for someone like Philips, Thornberry, Bailey, etc as the Prime Minister of this country? Not a fucking chance. labour are in an existential crisis and I don’t see anyone who is capable of bringing the party together let alone win an election.

Not a fucking chance. labour are in an existential crisis and I don’t see anyone who is capable of bringing the party together let alone win an election. It happens and its worth noting that Labour haven't done as badly as the Tories under Major, Hague or Howard in 97, 01 and 05. It's not irretrievable by any stretch. Their biggest advantage comes in their darkest hour. They size of the defeat means they are now free of Brexit. If it had been closer they would still have been tinged with it merely by association and influence. This is now a Tory project and a Tory project alone. It seems quite simple to me. Keep a lot of the radical manifesto, with a more credible leader with more conservative statements around defence, immigration and law and order and they're back in the game. I've seen nothing, absolutely nothing, in the Tory manifesto that tells me anything else other than the big areas of growth in five years time will be in billionaires, food banks, inequality and homelessness. In five years time the country will be a different, more desperate place. It's by no means a given that the Tory con trick will win again.

He's going nowhere. After the usual suspects talk about a new direction Corbyn will still be there.
There will be a Corbyn v2.0 and v3.0 in the leadership contest and Lansman's flying monkey's will push the Party ever Leftwards.

Peter Kyle is on Politics Live now. Never seen him before, pretty smooth. I wonder if he fancies a tilt?
Edit. He's just said he would back Jess Philips.

Maybe Labour could follow the Tories and hand a position of authority to an unelected politician...?

I agree Tricky if you mean the Labour front bench.... probably half the Tories as well. I don't think a peerage would suit her though....I think it does show the depths of Labour that she is being sued by a fellow member

She's one of the few MPs that came out of the Brexit debate with any credit, yet is rewarded with losing her seat. Meanwhile, some of the turds that caused her to lose her seat keep theirs.

this is just a flashy way of saying the working class are stupid, a variation on the "turkeys voting for Christmas" meme ... i don't see this guy as being the answer to labours problems.

Unfortunately, Labour's Soviet made tractor and plough from the 1970s has stopped in its tracks and rusted away in the field.

I thought that myself Partick , I think that she should, I don't think she would on principle. A pity we can't get good genuine people in Parliament, irrespective of party. Perhaps just do their best pragmatically not ideologically
