O'Neill said in his Radio Stoke interview yesterday ... "We have a lot of OPTIONS in the middle of the pitch, we can address that." Surely that statement alone, demonstrates that all this speculation about him being forced into not picking Badou and Etebo is wrong. Then why is he doing it Paul? It makes little sense. Grapey alluded to MON possibly being a ‘British is best’ merchant and you do wonder/worry there might be something in that.

He is making sure they are wrapped up in cotton wool so they can both be sold in January because they are our biggest assets. I think it’s quite obvious that he’s been told to do this by someone higher up at the club.

I wish we could get the manager, Scholes and Coates on a stage together and ask them directly what is going on. They could of course lie and have a conspiracy between them, but what other reasons can there be other than to protect the asset by not playing two very good players. I don't necessarily disagree if they are being wrapped up, but come clean and be honest with fans. Honesty of course would be a first for the club though so I shan't hold my breath.

I just think it's complete nonsense, I posted this earlier in the thread ... Peter Coates: "Listen Michael, don't play Badou or Etebo because we've got buyers for them in January and we don't want either of them getting injured." Michael O'Neill: "But boss playing them now would give us our best chance of getting the points needed to avoid relegation." Peter Coates: "Listen Michael, them not getting injured is more important than us avoiding relegation." It's not a logical suggestion is it? It's far more logical to suggest that O'Neill is simply not CHOOSING to pick either player, don't you think?

How are we going to get a decent fee for them if they’re not in the shop window? How is getting a fast buck now preferable to giving everything to avoid relegation?

Bruno certainly have been mediocre lately and looks too weak in the air for this division. I know I wanted him to play, but now he is often out of position and lose too many important headers. Time for Shawcross and Batth in my opinion.

Bruno being shit in the air and not having the standard built-in compass that most of us possess is probably marginally less concerning for me than his new 'I'm wading through lots of treacle' running style.

Cant afford them? They are contracted scfc players We need cash from their sale and to reduce wage bill. Apparently MON sees no point playing them if they are not part of the future. But Badou keeps coming on as sub so that argument doesn’t hold. Points are so valuable to us that there is no way he would have been told not to play them for 8 games

The manager has wasted so much time and vital points to work out what everyone already knew. Hopeless preparation If he didn’t know the players should never have got the job .anyone whose been to a stoke game could tell you his last three midfield selections were hopelessly ill suited to this league before during and after the Cardiff game repeating the same mistake is just incompetent

You would have hoped the idea of retaining Rory was to pass on what he'd learned by working with this rabble for the last 18 months.

I think what Rory has shown us is that he seems to be nigh on useless. And I agree he should at least be passing on relevant information about the club and players to O’Neill, but what the actual hell is he doing if he’s not even done that? Might have been a legend in his playing days but he’s part of a shit coaching setup and needs to go.

Rory to follow Andy Q would be my bet , the process needs another scapegoat and he’s the most likely he can’t complain as he’s added nothing in his time with the first team but of course it will improve nothing .
After all we’ve Mr Miserable McKinley of Real Sociedad to lead the coaching and he’s made a huge difference

When will people realize that Etebo, N’daye and a few others are not in McNeil’s plans because we can’t afford them, and building the core around players that he can afford to keep? Well those he's building around are working wonders. When you're deep in a relegation battle you play your strongest squad to get as many points of possible and if that times comes those better players move on so be it. Why hamstring yourself for 2 months of the season because we may lose a couple of players? It's retarded. O'Neil has stated that one of our problems has been the constant chopping and changing and seems to have adopted a policy of developing a stable team with players likely to be around for the rest of the season. We may earn a few more points shirt term but we could easily lose more ling term because any longer term team building gets thrown out the window. O'Neil is taking a longer term view of the situation - fans are only bothered about the last and the next game. To call someone retarded for having a time horizon larger than a concussed goldfish is seriously misunderstanding the role of a manager.

The long term view has to be to stay out of division one and If this manager believes the chief executive will allow him to be relegated and survive and take any share of the responsibility he’s as deluded as a good fish that thinks it’s a shark concussed or not , right now he’s on course for a very very short reign , the ground turns this week on the boardroom and the let the back stabbing commence

We need all the points we can get. 'We could lose more in the long term' compared to what? We're losing now and there's scant evidence this team with this midfield is going to gel. It's a mile too lightweight and offers nothing going forward either. We're hamstringing any long term planning by chucking points away and digging ourselves deeper and deeper into the mire. Would it not be better to get some points on the board as a foundation to build on? Only playing your worst players because nobody's likely to buy them seems a questionable strategy, long term or otherwise, for staying up.

Bruno is not British. Somehow he isn't...nor is Mame. True. Will be interesting to see what happens to Bruno when Ryan’s fully fit. Nothing will happen. It's Batth who should worry. He's almost identical to Ryan in terms of approach and ability - and equally limited in many ways. Bruno could get dropped for poor performances, though, as could Batth, but it won't be long before the cry then goes up for a composed leftsided defender, not to mention leftback alternative, and then he'll be back. But if the opportunity arises in the window he'll be gone so fast you'd never thought Bruno could move. Until that happens he'll be another wantaway player who's allowed to stay in the team...

You raise an interesting point about Bruno and being off if the opportunity arises. I think that's true of 99% of the squad, which begs the question of why we're only ostracising Ndiaye and Etebo. Allen's reputation outside Stoke is sufficiently high because of his Wales exploits yet he is apparently undroppable?
