Ha! I posted after the Millwall match that Rowett and Woods were chatting about Woods moving to Millwall when walking off the pitch. I'm the new Davesviews.

Hopefully we can get this done as it's clear his career has stalled during his time here and we obviously need to significantly trim the squad. As said above, we will be lucky to get anything like a 'Stoke' type price for him. Probably a loan deal 🤭 See anything else in your scrying glass?

i get the ffp side of things, what i don't get is how players simply become crp at stoke. first 4 games woods was excellent. what really does my head in is loaning to direct rivals, and to an old manager. bet your bottom dollar that it all works out for him, and he regains his form. Probably at our expense. "but that will only increase his sale price?" i hear you say. This is stoke, we'll still end up giving him away. Scholes out. This is beyond ridiculous, £80m odd worth of signings playing for other teams. They aren't direct rivals.

Another loan Fuck me, we literally can't give our players away can we From what I've been reading loans are the best way forward in relation to FFP if we cant get back what we (over) paid for the player originaly. If it reflects as a loss because we could only get 3m for someone we paid 6m for it would show as a 3m loss. If we loaned the same player out and he has his wages paid it wouldnt show as a loss and his wages would be off the wage bill. At least that's how I see it. It reflects on the deals previously made and that we've overpaid but it seems like our only option right now. Another reason why Scholes needs to got because of the mess he and previous managers have got us in.

When all's said and done it's all about managing you balance sheet and making sure you stick to the £39m loss maximum after three seasons. So if you can't shift a player for £6m, the next best thing is to shift his £25k a week wage for 20 weeks instead (£500k). It all contributes to staying within the rules......

If he does gain his form and helps Millwall to beat Wigan, Luton, Bransley, Charlton, Huddersfield etc. who could be in the relegation fold isn't that good for us ? We will be losing his wages and should be getting a loan fee, hopefully.

I suppose one hope is that he goes out on loan really finds some form and gets his market value up to a level above what we paid for them in the first place. If he isn't going to feature for us much then we are never going to enhance his value. So from that view point then it makes sense to send players like this out on loan.

www.millwallfc.co.uk/news/2020/january/rowett-shares-delight-at-signing-number-one-target-woods/"It's great to have him here - I know him well from working with him at Stoke," he said. "He's a top midfielder in his position and he's very flexible. People may pigeon-hole him as a defensive midfielder in terms of playing a holding role and getting on the ball, but we've found previously that he can step in higher up the pitch and make things happen. "The beauty of bringing him in is that he's got a bit of everything. He can pass the ball with a bit of extra composure and technicality that we need, but he is also a feisty character and competitive - I'm sure the fans will love him. He brings something different to what we've The midfielder is a Millwall man until May, but beyond that is in the mind of the manager already.
"The plan for anyone we bring in is to look at them for the longer term. There is that opportunity, potentially, but the fact of the matter is that we needed to bring some extra quality into the midfield. We didn't just want to go out and get anyone, we wanted it to be a right-midfielder and he was the number one target. I think he's a fantastic signing for us."

And how the hell are Millwall going to get anywhere near the £6million we paid for him? If he does well he needs to go out on the open market. Or, we hope by some miracle they get promoted and they pay top dollar!
