Keep him. He’s a million times better option than Cousins as a backup, and is a very good player if played right. Cousins is better at protecting the back four, not hard as Woods is shocking at it. Cousins is a terrible footballer full stop.

the typical modern day midfield player keeps the ball but has no real invention to his game and just slows the team down will suit Rowett style

Talk of Jed Wallace interesting us on the net somewhere yesterday - maybe some sort of swap/part-ex? Surely not Wallace?
Isn't he the geezer that hit some form of late (as opposed to RW of course).
Be amazed if, for once, we got the better of any deal and this one inparticular.

I can't see them offering anything like the £6 million we were foolish enough to pay With the right players around him it would of been money excellently spent The sweet shop transfer policy has made good players poor ones, it’s no suprise that at Brentford was player of the year alongside the likes of Sawyers etc Put him in West Brom’s side and he’d be superb Can't comment on his time at Stoke (prepared to accept he's been crap), but he was truly excellent at Brentford, improving season-on-season after signing from Shrewsbury. And 122 league appearances in 3 seasons showed terrific consistency and fitness.
Having turned 26 only last month, there must surely still be a player in there somewhere.
P.S. He was Players POTY one season and fans POTY the next.

Can certainly see MON being interested in some sort of deal with Shane Ferguson - a left sided winger cum full back cum winger. Yep, he's Northern Irish. Possible, I suppose, but whilst Shane sometimes fills in at LB, he's really a wide midfielder/winger. Can't see why Michael would want to duplicate McClean, when he's got other more pressing priorities.

He's a more talented footballer than Cousins but he's no DM, and Cousins, bitterly mediocre though he is, is one. He's thus less expendable than Woods, who doesn't really have an obvious role in the side. Except we no longer play with an out and out DM, when Powell is in the team. So as one of the two I would prefer the option of Woods.

He's a deep lying, quarter back type and I just don't see how that meshes with what O'Neill wants to do.

In an action replay of when he signed here, it's amazing how many fans of other teams in the Championship seem to rate him.
And seem to see it as a bit of a coup for Millwall.
We must have been watching his brother for the last 18 months

Surely as a partner for an Allen or preferably Clucas, you have the energy and athleticism from that side of the pairing, and Woods as the other. I just can’t see the logic in another loan for a player who could be of use to us. I don’t see any way that Cousins offers any use to this squad.

If you're playing Powell then you need both players behind him to have energy and that bit of bite to give him the platform and cover he needs to do his thing higher up the pitch. The idea of Woods is nice but he too needs the kind of protection of water carriers around him and he doesn't do enough often enough IMO to justify that. Cousins' only use is if you're playing an out and out DM, and I'd be surprised if MON has jettisoned that as an option altogether.

i get the ffp side of things, what i don't get is how players simply become crp at stoke.
first 4 games woods was excellent.
what really does my head in is loaning to direct rivals, and to an old manager.
bet your bottom dollar that it all works out for him, and he regains his form. Probably at our expense.
"but that will only increase his sale price?" i hear you say.
This is stoke, we'll still end up giving him away.
Scholes out. This is beyond ridiculous, £80m odd worth of signings playing for other teams.

Percy says option to buy in the summer (which, as we know, are never taken up!) Still, first time for everything. Option to buy, as oppose to the old 'you're not allowed to buy him at the end of the loan' stance. What a load of old tosh. Of course there's an option to buy.

I guess the difference is, that Millwall will have a half decent CEO who will keep his eye on the cash and tell GR not to be such a plumb.

I’m fine for Woods to leave, he doesn’t really seem to do anything.
He doesn’t score goals. He doesn’t stop goals. He doesn’t make goals.
And I think you need to do at least one do them.
However, N’golo Kante doesn’t do any of them either (directly) - but he’s priceless.
