www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_stoke17:29 "Norton's not ready to start games, but he showed up well when he was on the pitch" "The youngsters aren't ready to play in games like this. They're on the bench due to the injuries we have" "Couldn't take off a centre-half as we needed them to defend the long throws. Taking one off would have weakened us. It wasn't a day to bring wide players on, who we haven't got much out of" Not going to go down well Did he say that about Norton after having played that clueless Brown for numerous games? Really!?

MON is out of his depth - he doesn't appear to know what to do to improve things, he doesn't appear to know how to motivate the players, his tactical nous is abysmal, he lacks any passion on the touchline, and he throws players under the bus (regularly) in response to yet another atrocious performance.
He did well last season but his performance this season has generally been sadly lacking, and his record of 6 wins in 27 games would be more than enough for almost all other clubs to take action and change things. Fortunately for MON, he has John Boy in charge who is even more out of his depth and utterly clueless.
It's a good job for MON and the Board that the fans have not been allowed in this season.

I fear he has lost the dressing room and the plot His formation was a major factor Not a good message for the kids to hear However you look at it we have regressed and it is painful and predictable to watch I just cant see what he is trying to do anymore Today was as bad as anything under any recent manager - as was last week etc Very sad to see the state we have become What is even more concerning as there appears to be little hope for next season and we may even lose Powell due to FFP constraints We really have tumbled in the most amazing way in the last 4 years and yet, lets be honest, nothing underneath has changed and it doesn't look like it will no matter what is posted on here or elsewhere, or even I suspect when we are allowed back to watch whatever is churned out

To be fair his post game interviews are normally very good Today he got whiney about how the opposition played the game - that’s not a good sign.

Apart from the young players. He’s a first rate coward. Not sure about that - just think he genuinely thinks they are not ready for the Championship, which is fair enough IMO. He's probably right. They all need a loan ideally. He said Norton did well. It's when he brings Vokes on ahead of anyone with a pulse that he loses me completely. We're past the point where bringing him on is defensible Definitely an argument to give Coates a run before the end of the season as well Missing a more vocal captain and leader Ryan wasn't the most vocal but had the respect of all around him We don't have anyone with that drive and experience at our club atm The crowd would have started to turn on viewing the last 2 performances We would probably have helped in other games On to Preston and then Coventry who are also fighting to stay up

Good job there will be no fans at our next home game.
MON would get a bit of criticism.

Comments like that really mean that we should start to prepare for another battle on our hands. The older players will get worse, we may lose Powell, and the young Players are not good enough- not playing them and then making them listen to that comment is hardly going to improve them. If what he says is true, Pep Guardiola wouldn’t turn us around, but MO’n certainly won’t. He’s giving people plenty of rope with which to hang him- come on MO’n just give these last few games something to get us excited about!

Notable lack of criticism in his official club interview too. Got his kid gloves out after Monday by the looks of it Apart from the young players. He’s a first rate coward. You'll be calling him Micky "Mouse" O'Neil soon 😁

For the first time ever, I've found his post-match comments deeply concerning. So much about what he said was worrying that I don't really know where to start.
The only way to combat the directness of the opposition is to play 3 centre halves We'll never be a team that lumps it from back to front Offsides from throw ins It's a learning experience for the young players playing against a physical team like that (they are the only ones who showed anything, Mikel aside) The youngsters are not ready to play at this level, Norton not ready to start a game.
Deeply concerning stuff and struck me as a manager who is either feeling the pressure or who has all of a sudden realised the enormity of the task that still lies ahead.
