What utter tosh. He was cack. Oh he was poor but it’s not tosh. Anyone expecting us to finish top half was living in cloud cuckoo land. Top half? People wanted promotion confirmed after 5 games 😉

Oh man....this may be our ticket out, re: Ince and McClean!!! 🤞🏼 Ince is an excellent Championship player. That Jones can’t get what Rowett did out of him speaks volumes re Jones. Help me out a bit here bayern..... What exactly did Rowett get out of him that Jones hasn't??? 🤔 As far as I'm concerned, there's no one (in the last two seasons) playing for Stoke who's frustrated me more than Ince, I'd take McClean over Ince any day.....yes, seriously!!!

I haven’t said he didn’t deserved to be sacked. He did but actually the job he did in hindsight was a lot better than I expected. You said he did well. People who deserve to be sacked haven't by definition done well. I think what Bayern meant was he has done better than jones has upto now

He pretty much apologised for the arrogance publicly recently, which I will always respect anyone who admits their wrong doings.
I'm sure he will do well there, as someone said, zero expectation, only way is up.
Just hope if it is he does well it is in no way at the expense of us.

How is buying Afobe for mega money then playing him as a lone striker using players better? He was patently not suited to that role. Or getting Cuco the clown in on loan and refusing to play Edwards? Than how Jones used them? We won games, that’s how. And I’ve said the loans were bad 👍 Whoa there fella, back up! Yesterday you were having a go at me for having the typical oatcake attitude of 'we are winning, everything is fine and dandy' You fucking hypocrite

People who deserve to be sacked haven't by definition done well. Mate I tried this argument with him last night. He'd dug himself into a hole and refused to stop digging because that would be an admission he's wrong. Heaven forbid. In the space of 3 posts on the first page of this thread he went from 'He did well here in hindsight' to 'Oh he was poor'. Even for Bayern a quite remarkable volte face. I got bored in the end which is what he relies on when he's wrong. People give up in frustration and he can then convince himself he was right all along.

Strange what makes people likeable or unlikeable. Jones can sound very arrogant at times. I mean, imagine him if we were top of the table!!! Yet somehow, people have taken to his personality in a way that they never did with Rowett. The humility does sound sincere though, and I have no gripe against him. He cocked things up, but I honestly think we were in a much worse state than anyone imagined. He wasn’t a bad manager before he joined us, and I hope he uses the lessons learned to get his career back on track. I have no gripe against him now, I'm pretty ambivalent towards him, I resent the amount of money he spent largely on crap but he didn't waste it on purpose, he did what he thought was best at the time. It's easy to misread people's attitudes and intentions when mostly what you see or hear from them is in interviews where they are usually under pressure. It just seemed to me he thought he was doing us a favour taking the job, could've been just his poor interview technique tho. With Jones, it seems he cares as much as we do, whether he does or he doesn't that's the attitude the fans see and I think a lot will forgive some arrogance when it's not accompanied by aloofness. Maybe there was an apparent arrogance to try to convey an image of confidence in himself in the face of the shitstorm he was dealing with, a fair bit of which he'd contributed to himself. Who knows? Intent is an important word though. I tend to judge people on intent almost as much as I do on accomplishment. A good guy who fails is still a good guy. Shame about the £50m though.

Maybe it was, we'll probably never know. It's a while ago now but I seem to remember being of the opinion that after his outburst he just wanted out, as soon as possible and with the least amount of fuss possible. I do wonder how things would've turned out if he hadn't had that rush of shit to the brain but given his signings and the football being challenging to watch I'm quite happy we didn't get to watch it unfold. I think the £50 million will affect us for a long time to come

He failed because he wasn't up to the task. He wasn't what we needed. Maybe. Maybe not. I think people underestimated how shit we were though and how bad the board are. He can't knock the board. Relegation is a time to tighten purse strings but Rowett got a huge budget to work with. And given the fact he chose to leave Derby we can reasonably assume he got a healthy pay rise to join us too. He can't really hold anything against the board.

Am I the only poster on this board that cannot understand why Bayern has never been sectioned under the 1972 mental health act ?

Think he will do well there to be honest - he will get them organised, playing on the break and grinding out results. Good fit for him. Didn't work out for him here, but he wasn't the worst manager we've had, and we would be in a stronger position now in the league if we had kept him.

Can't stand him. If he'd spent no money and spent all summer persuading N'Diaye and Choupo to stay we'd have been mid table at absolute minimum. Ince aside (for the first half of the season anyway), all his signings made our team worse.

Didn't work out here unfortunately and he spend money that will hamper us for years but I've no animosity towards him. Hopefully now we are on a long term project where we can move the club forward as a whole.

He won't dare wind up the Millwall fans like he did here,he wouldn't last 5 minutes He won't have to wind the Millwall fans up because he won't be dealing with a mess anywhere near as big as the mess he discovered here at SCFC. NJ appears to have made a big dent in the problems that have festered here for years so we should just be looking forward now and supporting NJ in our long awaited revival.
