This amazes me because I thought this would be his breakthrough year with us🙄 I remember saying that about Ollie Shenton when he got a few games under Hughes 😖

I've been consistent with my comments on this. I said he'd only go if there was an opportunity at a championship club or top league 1 club. Bolton is a top league 1 club. In the state they are in, they are absolutely nowhere near a top league 1 club. You know what I mean. They still have premier league facilities and are classified as a big club in league one.

Just when you thought Stoke couldnt boil your piss any more. Whoever sanctioned sending one of the very few players that gets fans out of their seats off to develop at a club more fucked than us wants hospitalizing.
Fuck off Stoke, just fuck right off.

Well we'll see how it pans out. If he comes back here in January with 15 first team games under his belt and we've got a new manager who'll use him then it'll be good business for me.

What if Jones gets the push in the mext week or so?. A new manager comes in to shake things up and the only left winger we've got is James Mclean. 200 signings made in the summer and there are still massive holes within the squad. How has this happened?.

Verlinden would have been ideal in a 433 with Gregory and Campbell or Ince. Jones could have had the defenders and midfielders holding their positions and keeping us solid, feeding the wide attackers to take on their opponents at every opportunity, but that opportunity has now been dashed. Thanks, Nath.

You send players out on loan to gain confidence. Sending the lad out to a side currently getting pumped more times than San Marino is utter madness, but stupid decisions by Stoke really don't surprise me anymore.

This club is getting right on my bloody wick. Send McClean out on loan. Keep Verlinden. I know I'll get dog's abuse, but that's what I would do, if at all possible. Don't throw left back at me, because McClean isn't one. He is an overpaid plodder, at the best of times!

This just proves that we have no plan what so ever. In general, and also in relation to Verlinden, with all of our young players.
Bolton have obviously come to us on a wing and a prayer asking for a player in their desperate state and we've been stupid enough to say "yeah we've got a cracking lad actually, here you go" without even contemplating if it's a good move for the player. IF, they have sat around and thought Bolton are the right club then they're all just brain dead.

IF, they have sat around and thought Bolton are the right club then they're all just brain dead. This is what happens when you play at having a Technical Director because it's 'what all the other clubs do', employ the mate of one of the owners and take it on the fly from there. A proper club will sit down, work out what they want to do and where they want to go - appoint a proper football man at the top and create/enact an entire club philosophy from the top down, which will encapsulate everything from first team down to the youth including the criteria for implementing them into the first team. A proper pathway if you like. Once this is done they will have regular assessments on what is working, what isn't working and how they can improve things - and if that means removing people from key positions then it gets done. It evolves over time and you create a complete club model from scouting and recruitment, to youth and first team through to a sale model - who to sell, when to sell and how much. Jones will carry the can for this but it's yet another situation that is a by-product of rank poor, rudderless and lazy ownership.

We're currently trying to get Tyrese Campbell loaned out to Bury.
The club's hopeful, nothing certain as of yet but Scholes reckons it'd be good for the lad.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It would have been more useful to have sent Allen and Lindsay to Bolton This is staggering. He's way too good for them and too good for us at the moment. Are they trying to break him or what??? 'Too good for us' - no wonder this forum gets laughed at!

You look at Wolves, Leicester, Bournemouth, Burnley, Southampton, Watford, even Swansea to name a few, who are of similar size to us or below, they've made the transition to a modern football club structure with a vision, ethos and professional management. You might not like all their answers to it but at least they've got a model. They may fail eventually but it won't be because they were half arsed and mismanaged on the epic scale we have been.
