You can clearly see why the club have loaned him out. Not getting in the match day squad and apart from Saturday when we played a system where he could actually fit there's no point keeping him when he's only getting time in the U23's.
However, if going forward we are playing a system similar to Saturday he should be playing over McClean. If it's the diamond or similar wingerless formations you can see the club's intentions

I really do believe that this will be the straw that broke the camels back judging by the reaction from fans on social media, radio and other platforms It's the equivalent of the after match interview where Rowett questioned Bojan's recent record. It's inviting abuse from the stands. Either it's deliberately sticking a finger up to the fans who they know want Verlinden to be given a chance here, or the manager and/or the club are just so totally unaware of the feelings of the fans that you'd have to question how fit for the role they are. They've scored a massive own goal in my opinion, and when you're bottom of the league, you really can't afford to be doing that.

Just listened. Fucking hell, people sounded genuinely hurt and not even angry. I think fans have genuinely had enough mate I flew into a rage at the Verlinden news but now I just feel sad. Itâs heartbreaking. None of them have a clue do they and where do we even go from here. I suppose it just hits home itâs not our club really itâs theres and there isnât anything we can do but sit back and watch.

They've scored a massive own goal in my opinion, and when you're bottom of the league, you really can't afford to be doing that. Almost wondering if its reached the point where he is accelerating himself towards the sack I'm comparing my own reaction to the two incidents. I was probably one of the last to turn against Rowett, but his Bojan comments were almost an invitation to supporters to have a go at him and basically made his position untenable. I was massively in favour of us appointing Jones and argued against mates who wanted a more experienced steady hand. I prefer to give managers a fair crack of the whip, maybe for too long, but when they start to take the piss without the results to back up their stance, it's time to remove my unreserved support. The Verlinden decision has that kind of feel to it. He asked to be judged on results with his team, so here we are. I suspect a loss at our next game will open the floodgates for supporter unrest in the ground and he'll be gone shortly afterwards.

Just when you thought Stoke couldnt boil your piss any more. Whoever sanctioned sending one of the very few players that gets fans out of their seats off to develop at a club more fucked than us wants hospitalizing. Fuck off Stoke, just fuck right off. Agree. When you think it couldnât get any worse. Why donât we just fuck Campbell and Powell off too while weâre at it. I give up.

Looked head and shoulders above whatâs on the field. Heâs got pace, power and movement. I dont know. Has anyone seen enough of him to know how good he is? He has huge potential for sure and he had an excellent debut. Some dont or refuse to see the other side though. At middlesborough (I forget how long he was on for) he was awful and wasted countless excellent opportunities to create and he did similar at Charlton. I know he was possibly striving to prove himself with limited time but maybe, just maybe, this loan will do him good physically (hes had an 18 month struggle with a back problem) and we can perhaps get an even more rounded player back in January. Things are really bad right now but we need to be careful not to see the worst in absolutely everything due to the current situation.

Maybe Jones doesnât think heâs quite ready yet and has had him loaned out so he canât be pressured by the fans into playing him. Just like what happened with Rowett and Bojan.

Surely he is the only back up to both Ince and McLean should we move to a wingers system even though I believe he's light years better than JM on the left.

Not only Verlinden, but also for instance Daryl Murphy.
Interesting times for them now.

I can't believe this is Jones's decision. This has the smell of Scholes all over it. And whilst we're there I would love someone to ask Jones to swear on a bible that the team selection every week is purely his. How else do we explain the selection of Allen and McLean every week?

Heâs just shit. I donât know what you think is happening. Tony Scholes is selecting the team on his holiday? Tony Scholes has randomly decided to send Verlinden to Bolton who have no money and we are probably saying his wages. What planet are you on?

I might be reading it differently but that's saying to me he's not going out on loan unless it's to a good team - therefore he's staying with us? I was reading it differently.

Forgetting personal performances etc I agree with your initial post. Trying to understand and take a pragmatic point of view IMHO we are in such a hole currently NJ must âshut up shopâ to try and put points on the board. That would leave Verlinden on the fringe as NJ will have to rely on the more experienced proâs (I can hear the derision). His initial loan of 3/4 months will be invaluable experience for him. 1. He will have an opportunity for game time and 2. Heâll experience a different working environment. Itâs a winner all the way for the young lad.
