He's a manager full of broken promises - Athletic young team - Attack football - Fans should be excited Talked the talk but clearly can not walk the walk. This. He's done the polar opposite of what he said he'd do. It's bizarre. This is the key point for me, a complete failure to deliver on what he promised. He has made 12 signings but only Hogan has any pace and there is no sign of the energy needed to get on the front foot and dominate. What was the Duffy signing designed to do, we already had Ince and Powell? Carter-Vickers now has no role it seems. Woods was off, suddenly back Centre stage and is now out again. Lindsay, Batth, Ward and Lindsay are plodders, Cousins an immobile lump and Davies is third choice. Used properly Powell, Hogan and Vokes can contribute and Smith is okay and Gregory a squad player but that is 5 out of 12 signings. Meanwhile Pieters and Afobe leave and immediately start performing. The squad we have can’t play a diamond which is the major reason to worry about Jones, 12 new players and still we don’t have the players for his system. Today we had a Rowett/Jones combo and it showed.

I'm trying to recall all these 'chances we created'. Half time Stats were 2 shots (1 on Target) from I think nigh on 65% possession. The only other thing I can think is the post/Joe Allen open goal miss. I’m sure we have a Statto that can give you a better answer.

Today was the last straw for me. He bottled it with his formation against an ordinary side. Any momentum gained against Leeds has vanished.
I would take Hughton or Monk in a heartbeat.
We'll end up with Steve McClaren.

It very sad as he is extremely likeable bloke but it's a results business. There are signs of a good side in there but we fold far too easily.
The main problem I have is who is there out there to replace him that would want to come to us? Certainly don't want Pulis back and it was refreshing to get a young keen manager. Maybe he could turn it around but if he doesn't go now he cannot be allowed much longer. Perhaps his limited experience normally winning games doesn't equip him to grind out results.
Sorry that we look to be replacing another manager so quickly.

It is impossible to defend Stoke's or Jones' performances today. We all know it and they know it as well.
The only observation I can make in their defence is that we hit the post and the ball deflected to Allen and he missed (2 chances awry) and they have a soft shot defected away from our GK into the net. Games are lost by such fine margins and it has happened repeatedly this season.
If we bring in a new manger now where does he start?
Jones has virtually a new squad and is bedeviled with established senior players like Butland and Allen who have lost the plot.
It is not in my nature to question the manager's judgement, I'm not a football manager my expertise lies elsewhere, but even I am finding it hard to fathom why he makes certain choices and makes some changes.
I do feel Jones has been let down by his senior players and maybe a new manger will galvanize them into a different frame of mine. But I have said it will take months to get the squad into a winning team, not a few weeks, and we should give him till November; that is how long it took Hughes in his first season and he started from a much stronger position. Hughes had a couple of early 1 goal margin wins early in his tenure, whilst Jones has suffered numerous shots against the woodwork, silly errors, and today a cruel deflection.
I still feel we should give him longer to turn things round. It is only the 1st September tomorrow and a long way to go. Hopefully he is learning fast from performances and he fathoms who is performing for him and who isn't.

he has to go. His record cannot be defended on any metric. Unless building a mid table league 1 squad is one of his KPIs.

I still can't get my head around his comments about "fast, athletic, dynamic" players and loyalty to playing a diamond to then sign a geriatric left back, play a limited left winger at wing back, not sign a defensive midfielder to play in his preferred position and only sign complete and utter lumps to play up front (not wanting to discredit Gregory's work rate today). It doesn't make any sense. It's like saying, "I quite fancy one of those nice new craft lagers" and then having a pint of Carling.

Just a short trip back from Birmingham and straight into the chairmans office I hope. He has to go and with the international break a good time to get a sensible option through the door. Absolute shocking manager so far out of his depth.

The question is, are we willing to stick with him at the risk of finishing in the bottom 3? do we back his long term strategy to succeed?
His record here so far is diabolical, he may eventually get them playing his way but it could be far too late. I’m of the opinion that managers should be given time, Lambert and Rowett both deserved more time, the thing with NJ is that he has to show us something to earn that time, and at the moment he can’t buy a win in the league.
The risk of relegation is real if we keep NJ, on the other hand he has shown at Luton he has something about him and perhaps in time he could do it here too, he’s treading a fine line though and he needs results soon if he is going to shape the club and be here for the long term.
I’m 50/50 now, if he was sacked I’d feel sorry for him but I’d totally understand. I really want us to change the philosophy of our club though and the thought of a young manager turning things around here as opposed to bringing in a dinosaur to grind out results and bore us to death, at this point I’d probably take the risk and hope the long term strategy plays out, but it is a massive gamble.

Binning a formation that has worked and dropping a good player to make a point, don't sit well with me. Playing Joe Allen for no apparent reason and going one up front when it doesn't suit us pisses me off. People are laughing at us. He's got to go.

People say you shouldn’t keep sacking managers because it causes instability.... however what’s worse is chopping and changing sides and formation .. players and fans have nothing to build on !! Confidence in jones’s Decision making is shot !! From the perspective of both the players and fans. IF he turns this around he will surely be the best manager of football EVER !

Sorry, but he’s got to go. We will go down if we keep him. Unfortunately, I think you're right. Problem is, although his replacement could do better defensively (playing proper full-backs for a start) there just isn't enough goals in this squad.

I think he will be gone by Monday night which I think is wrong and the new man will be in place by the week after which will be a truly terrible decision and our troubles will only just be beginning those truly accountable will escape justice but are to have the appointment forced on them Our troubles only just beginning ? Have you not seen the league table ? Have you not seen Jones's record here ? We're going to get relegated if we do nothing ! We probably will anyway, we're such a mess

Pulis ain't coming back while Scholes is at the club, it's that simple. I fail to see a single reason why Tony would be let go either...

It's a miracle he's lasted this long with his record. He can have no complaints. This is a club that was favourites for promotion the season he joined and 5th favourites this season. We are now bottom and adrift.
He has to go and sharpish, so a new guy is in place before we return from the international break.
