On that showing he is a homeless man's Geoff Cameron.

Imbula was impressive on his debut, Cousins was pretty poor...I hope that, as the season moves on, the trajectory for Cousins is the opposite to that which we saw with Imbula

Ran around, broke up the play, positionally not bad, limited going forward. He did his job, Allen and Clucas did not. He was 10x the player Joe Allen was today. You can achieve that by merely having a pair of fully functioning feet.

On that showing he is a homeless man's Geoff Cameron. We knew that anyway. Why did QPR want Cameron not him. It was pretty bloody obvious when Cameron played instead of him last season and QPR were better.

Harsh to judge him on one game but he needs to be a lot better if we want to have any chance at promotion.

Thought he was ok, got a few interceptions and won a few tackles. It doesn’t look like he’s able to push the ball forward but he’s young and think he could do a job. He's 25, he's not going to improve unfortunately. He's a terrible signing. The day this bloke signed was the point I totally lost faith in Jones as manager and confirmed to me that he didn't know what he was doing.

How Woods is behind him in the pecking order I do not know. That role requires a player that can cover and break up play, yes, but also one who can start attacks, drive us forward, and he is simply way too limited on the ball to do that.
Play a 4231 with Etebo and Allen as the 2.
This diamond cannot be polished.

Personally thought Cousins was alright. My biggest issue is he was poor at turning defence into attack. In a dimomand the DM needs to be good at that. I thought the midfield as a whole were poor. Mainly because this system don’t suit them I feel

But personally I would give Woods a crack at Charlton

I actually thought he was our best player first half. Broke up play well and looked decent on the ball.
He seemed to disappear second half though and looked more like the player that was released by one of the worst sides in the league.

The day this bloke signed was the point I totally lost faith in Jones as manager and confirmed to me that he didn't know what he was doing. This position is a low skilled one and I think back to how Dean Whitehead evolved at an older age. I think there are many reasons to question Jones but I’m not sure Jordan’s performance is one just yet for me. I think he would have been helped if Joe and Sam played better and I think in other games they will. I should preface this with Jones is an idiot and these positive things could happen in-spite of Jones and his poor tactics.

His performance in Duisburg raised alarm bells for me, however first game give him some time. However I did not see anything since in the next few games to change my mind it only confirmed my initial fears. Not writing him off but he's got some work to do and I would not play him Woods or Badou for me.

Cousins passed for the most part well. However, such passes were mostly 10 to 15 yards sideways or forward with the receiving player’s back to the goal which gave little option than another sideways pass or back pass! I don’t think I saw him tackle at all and if he was supposed to be in a holding hole that is worrying. We certainly need Etebo pdq.

Thought he defended well yesterday but has to want the ball much more to play the holding role well and make the diamond work. Shy’d away from taking the ball off the centre half’s and never offered an option to play inside from the full backs, therefore we got trapped and would have to lump it forward under pressure or pass backwards again to the keeper. Needs to be much more confident otherwise he will be found out very quickly. Ndiaye would do that role very well if he stayed.

It’s unfortunate that we have two defensive midfielders who are only each 50% of the solution. Cousins appears to be able to get about the pitch and break up play but, in possession is limited. Woods on the other hand can dictate when in possession but couldn’t put a tackle in if his life depended on it. Yesterday we were back to try to build from the back through two central defenders who are ponderous in possession because Cousins didn’t want the ball.
