Where did the idea of losing the first three games come from? We haven't played them yet. I'm as dubious as anyone about our chances this coming season, but I do think we ought to wait until the first three games have actually been played before we criticise too much. We'll win the first three games Can't even remember clearly who we last beat in the 1st game of the season. I think we beat Burnley once on the opening day a while ago. Never known us win the 1st all that often, would make a nice change. |

Before it all starts......Norwich lost the first 3 games, Sheffield lost first 2 Leeds ran out of steam Leeds started 8 games undefeated winning 5; they finished the league programme failing to win any of their last 4 games, losing 3. Villa finished 5th and didn't win any of the 8 games against the 4 teams that finished higher. On 1st March they were in 13th place, with 4 points more than Stoke. We are entering on another very long journey. To succeed you need players who have grit, determination, and stamina, not just talent. The sort of qualities McClean, Shawcross, and Allen have, and many of the new players Jones has brought in. The sort of players Pulis built a promotion side with. |

I'm pretty shocked I've seen posts on this thread suggesting that we should judge Jones after one or three games before we've even kicked a ball. Try and stay positive guys, at the very least let's see where we are in the table at Christmas and whether it's continually improving. Surely none of us want the ground to have a toxic atmosphere after only a couple of weeks?!

Pathetic really isn’t it. It is and and it isn't. He's made that scenario with the results and the way he managed last season. We've had 3 years of massive decline, you can't blame fans for getting pissed off if we lost 3 in a row at the start of this season. No he's made the scenario by talking the talk and not walking the walk. Still I would give him twentyone games of exactly what he achieved last season, before I would accept that there was a need for the man to reconsider his speaking habits... And three years at least before I will accept that his project is mistaken. In saying this I will continue to be critical whenever there's a reason to be so, |

I backed him last season despite the fact he couldn't buy a win. This summer window has been a disaster once again. And today again we have one shot on target.
If we don't start playing well from the very next game he can fuck off for me.

I wouldn't be concerned if the problem was Cousins, McClean or Afobe.
I'm concerned because the whole lot looked disjointed, I don't see how any signings in the next week could come close to solving this.

It's a nasty cycle we're in. You want to be positive and for the most part I thought Saturday was but then you see the same shit manifesting itself and it just knocks the stuffing out of you. I can think of many other matches I'd rather have after an opening day defeat than a trip to a newly promoted team in their first home game. I'm already on edge thinking about what if we're crap again and it shouldn't be like that one game in. |
