Sorry what in that interview justified that? All the questions were fair and obvious. It was an interview? Where people were supposed to ask questions? I think it's best he's kept away from direct contacct with the fans. He gets very spikey when challenged. Probably why he dodged the supporter Q&A @ Delilahs last season. It also looked like he had a bit of ago at the presenter during one of the breaks.

Evolution better than revolution, he's aware and he's not ruled out upgrading. He's signed a large number of players more than I was expecting to be fair and enough for now if I'm being honest. Not saying he's wrong just a opnion. We’ve signed loads of players and we still have question marks in the 3 key areas most of us wanted sorting. Left back DM Pace We do but how many have we addressed?

He said nothing of the sort. But he did. What did he say that alluded to this? I can't recall anything

That's pretty poor man management to sat what he did regarding Ward. Although he didn't directly say "he was the best of a bad bunch", his words are easily interpreted. I'd be pretty unhappy and demotivated if I was Ward. Strange assertion about the team having good mobility and being able to get about the pitch too. I know he didn't use the word "pace" but his words were certainly alluding to address that particular subject matter. Yes, we've got players with good engines and players who work hard (McClean, Allen, Gregory etc) but nobody who appears to have genuine pace. Certainly not the kind of pace that would worry defenders. The only player we've got in the squad who can carry the ball, beat players and transition from defence to attack is Etebo. We seem overly reliant on one player, with a whole load of workhorses around him? We need a pacey forward and we need a monster DM. Those 2 are absolute musts. I'd add LB to the list but it seems pointless now that Nath has ruled that out. Having said all of the above, the season starts in Saturday and I'm starting to feel like a kid on christmas eve again. I absolutely love football and I love my club. It'll probably be 2 games in before I'm miserable and fuck and fed up with it all again, so I'm making the most of it. That's the negative way of interpretating his comments re Ward.

Looked for a LB but nothing available that was worth the money. How are people getting their frillies twisted over that?! Because it’s a key position and we haven’t got anyone for it? Just a thought. In the managers opinion we do.

I agree I would prefer A N Other but what we have is not totally shite mate. It’s awful. As I’ve said if we were told on here that these two were going to be our left backs in April, there would have been hell up. And rightly so. I bet if you had told Chelsea fans before the preseason of the season that they won the league, that their starting full back would be the player that they had regularly farmed out on loan (Moses) there would have been hell up. Sometimes things workout. Give Jones a chance; he has earned the job of managing Stoke; he's had his preseason and made his choices; has has clearly made a lot of changes. Judge and moan (if necessary) after it's been given a good go, not repeatedly before hand. The only thing moaning before you've given it a chance can do is have a negative impact, nothing good/ productive could ever become of it

I just think he’s a bit under pressure and he puts that on himself...give him some slack? Sorry but as you say he puts it on himself. He should be able to explain all of his decisions. I do feel a bit sorry for him because he sounded like a man that knows he’s fucked up a bit but at the same time you don’t go having a pop at the fans. Unfortunately I get the impression like Rowett he just expects to be adored. He has that Luton and he earns that at Luton but he needs to earn that here. You can’t go on the radio and say you signed someone cos there wasn’t anyone else after you’ve promised you’ll only bring in better players. He’s not a child. He’s a grown being paid hundreds of thousands pounds a year if not millions to do a job and part of that is to be able to do an interview and answer questions without going on the defensive

Cristiano Ronaldo is 34 I know he’s not a full back But would you say he is past it ? There would be hell up on here, I tell yer. Yea too slow can’t tackle can’t cross can’t shoot can’t take free kicks can’t take penalties Yep you are correct 😂😂

I don’t think we needed that. We need quality in key areas. No we did mate we had quality but no balls all over that pitch. What quality? We had McClean plodding down the left, Allen as the attacking midfielder, the only quality in midfield attacking wise was Ince. You don’t draw the amount of games we did last season without a bit of heart and fight.

That's the negative way of interpretating his comments re Ward. How do you interpret his words on the matter? They had a list of available players none so outstanding that they were better than Ward for free. Its a positive way i look at it he was very good value for money.

Is it me or did he come across a bit arrogant and pissed off? I agree. It happened with Rowett as well, Stoke fans nit-picking every little thing he does or says, constantly knowing better than the manager. Its all getting a bit tedious to be honest. Some on here (yes you Mary) should be millionaires with the management acumen you posses. Shame you're just a saddo trolling this board at every opportunity. If you dislike everything so much just go and do something else.

Please tell me he didn’t more or less admit that? Looked for a LB but nothing available that was worth the money. How are people getting their frillies twisted over that?! More like he thought getting Justin to sign was a cert after working with him before. Clearly a bit deluded on that one, but I think as things start to unravel he'll be shown to be deluded on a lot of levels.

Its a positive way i look at it he was very good value for money. That's kinda the point though. Jones is normally a beacon of positivity. On every single subject matter. He could sell snow to the eskimos such is his passion. I've never known him cast any negative comment, no matter how small or indirect. To say we tried to get someone better but we couldn't is about as clear cut as it comes.

I found myself disagreeing with Jones on a few things but he's paid to be the manager and I'll let him get on with it. Even despite a couple of areas in the side I'm not happy about, I still think we'll do alright this season.

But we did A pulis side had it And a sprinkling of quality You need players who you would be in the trenches with players who care a bit players who have pride Not overpriced overpaid wankers Then you can add to it quality once the basics are in place Nothing fancy just solid and effective

What the fuck am I reading on here. I listened to the interview and he answered everything. Why the hell are people reading inbetween the lines like a 3-2-1 clue?
Bloody hell, the season hasn't started and we're not just second guessing but 8th guessing on stuff and moaning about every answer.
