Finally put out of our misery. You're the most negative person I've ever witnessed regarding the England Cricket team any hint of reverse psychology? It's not ideal but we can still save this. Between Stoke and this lot, I’ve just had enough mate 😂

Now the Ashes have gone,it's time for wholesale changes.
Denly,Roy,Bairstow,Buttler if he fails in this 2nd.innings and maybe Root losing the Captaincy.

Agree, but we also need to look at the batting coaches and selectors... just poor choices top to bottom from behind the scenes which also translates onto the pitch.

We haven't lost yet, we've still got Leach to come so anything is possible.

I'd sack the 3rd umpire on the spot for that debacle.

Well well well
If these pair can get to the new ball? If Broad can give us half an hour if Archer can contain himself a bit more and obviously Leach can’t get out
...you never know
Test Cricket Eh!

We need to sack Root as captain. No fight and it feeds itself through the team

We need to sack Root as captain. No fight and it feeds itself through the team Not disagreeing with you regarding Root but who becomes captain though? And tbh, I think the spirit within the group is the reason we haven't been hammered as Australia are a better side than us right now. That's not the problem.

And tbh, I think the spirit within the group is the reason we haven't been hammered as Australia are a better side than us right now. That's not the problem. I think Root stays as captain partly because there is no one else and partly because he could well become a good captain as a consequence of the experience he is gaining. It’s hard to assess the spirit of the team. Sometimes it is good, other times it is terrible. I think you have correctly identified the main problem; the Aussies are better than us. Smith gives them the edge with the bat, but their quicks are formidable way better than our lot. Still it ain’t over yet. All we need to do is have our last two wickets survive 25 overs against the best fast bowling attack in the world armed with a new ball. Easy, peasy.

Fantastic crowd! 👍 Hats off to them! 🏏 Amazing support. The roar that went up 5 minutes ago reminded me of the one we gave during the Man Citeh game a few years ago.

Well that’s that.
The Ashes are Australia’s.
Where do we go from here? Well, apart from the Oval that is.
Time we said goodbye to some of the players who are simply not good enough at this level. Sorry to say that includes Butler, but should also include Bairstow. I’d replace them with Pope and Foakes respectively. Plus Denly has to go - he will never cut it in test cricket. Sibley for him. Lastly, Roy has to go. I’d give Sam Northeast a shot.
I suspect though we will go with the same batting line up that has failed us throughout the summer.
