Sheff Wed were good enough to let Bruce have a sabbatical from the game after the death of his father before taking over and he repays them by resigning a few months later.
What an arse.....

To be fair, if he goes on a losing run next season Sheff Wed wouldn't show him any loyalty. You raise a fair point though, tough one to call.

How does he keep getting these jobs. Losing Benitez to getting Bruce is not what expect for Big Club like Newcastle .

He's turned out to be a bit of a mercenary as a manager has Brucie over the years, but he's made a decent living out of it so fair play I suppose.....

Newcastle had started to get a bit of respect back in what Benitez had done. It seems though they’ve lurched back to full on comedy. I reckon they’d let Ant and Dec or Charlotte Moffat have a go if they could...after all, they are Geordies and that seems to be the only condition to meet.😂😂😂😂

At least he doesn't have to worry about any cabbages being thrown at him in salad-dodging Newcastle!

Bruce is a lifelong Newcastle fan. While the fanbase will be dismayed at his appointment for him its a chance of a lifetime to manage his home team.
You can't blame managers taking higher ranked jobs when they get the opportunity, its rare for the clubs to show loyalty to managers so it works both ways. A bad start to season at Wednesday and he would have probably been shown the door.

If he'd lost a few games, SW would not think twice about sacking him. Seriously, you would turn down an offer from a premiership club on probably mega-bucks compared to SW and a chance to awaken the sleeping giant turd that is Newcastle Utd? If so, I have a job for you ......

I'm glad he's gone there, its got absolute car crash written all over it.....

But, it doesn't matter how many times he has done it or who the clubs were, if any (decent) employer approaches me with an offer to be making 20% (or up) more than what I'm making now, probably with better resources, ..... I'd take it like a shot, even if I'd already done the same thing a dozen times before. I work for me and my family, and that's where my loyalty lies 100 times out of 100, not some misplaced ideal of loyalty to an employer.

Modern day footballers are multi millionaires, it's a slightly different scenario to most of us where a pay rise goes towards day to day living, a decent holiday, a new family car, or to save for a rainy day. These guys are literally just stacking up the millions, so yes absolutely they are in a better position to make the choice to stay loyal to a club or to move on just for the money. Whether they choose to do so or not is entirely their prerogative, but If I was a professional sportsman and you offered me £12m in the bank with no trophies or memories to speak of, or £6m in the bank with some silverware and medals to take to my grave I know which I'd go for.....

I understand where you are coming from, but... working in an association with about 700 Millionaire members, I have 2 comments. First, in my experience, those people who earn more actually need more. $6M sounds like a fortune to us, but most of these guys burn through that easily and end up actually needing to earn ever increasing amounts to simply keep themselves from going under. Second, with a few exceptions, the amount earned is THE ONLY Scorecard they use. They don't care what or how you achieved, simply what's the score. But hey! I wish I had those problems!

Maybe even push for an automatic promotion top 2 finish.

Don’t disagree with any of that fella. You see it constantly where players particularly move to a club and you know they’re not going to get game time, take someone like Shaun Wright-Phillips for example, he could have been a legend at Man City but chose to double his wages at Chelsea. His career pretty much went backwards from that day, if he’s played the long game he’d probably still be as rich but would have had a more memorable career. First world problems.....
