He's had a hamstring injury, hasn't he, not a broken leg or a dislocated knee? Let's keep it in proportion.

I'd also say we need to extend Powell's contract as well - as I can't see us signing a replacement who is anywhere near as good if Powell left. We also need a specialist defensive midfielder (preferably one who also has a killer pass) and both full back positions need attention given that RND is only a loan and Smith isn't good enough. But a front 3 or 4 including Delap, Campbell, Powell and Doughty would take some beating. We have absolutely no idea how Doughty and Campbell are going to come back from these serious injuries. Delap is a non starter and we don't even know if Powell will be here. Said on other posts. I can’t see Campbell, Doughty, Collins being fully match fit until mid/end Feb. The same for Allen and Fox. Another concern is the return to match fitness of Clucas. It’s going to be a hard 1st month/ 6 weeks

Plus, Doughty is being lauded by many, as the second coming of Cristiano Ronaldo, when no-one's seen him play. I hope he's great. I'm not pinning our promotion hopes upon him. i think quite high hopes for Doughty, maybe not that high. The kind of player by all accounts we need but is more of a let's see what happens scenario for me. I've only seen liam Delap twice and a great prospect. As Hackett has said, Doughty and Campbell and later Collins could take time to get back to anywhere near their best.

The club was prepared to shell out £650,000 for Doughty even though he only had six months remaining on his contract, so l'm hoping that his medical revealed nothing to suggest he wouldn't be able to get back to something like full fitness come the start of next season.

Initially they’ll probably be able to play on Adrenalin, if performances struggle or drop they’ll be quite a few suggesting they’re crap/career ended etc etc.you know that as well as me. That’s point I was endeavouring to make.

I think the figure you quote is a compensation fee which must be paid due to the players age.

Little point in playing Doughty after a hamstring even if he was fit for say the last game. As you say, some will be poised behind their keyboards if he doesn't impress first game or so

www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-city-news-liam-delap-20632577Where Delap will be playing his football next season is yet to be finalised. He could yet stay in Manchester to continue his development - aided by the fact he will now be eligible for Champions League games - but equally the improvements he has made to his game this year make him even more equipped for a loan. There are not many players physically ready for the Championship at 18 but the interest in him from the division indicates he is an exceptional talent.

Would be an excellent move. He looks a serious talent.
Getting a reputation as a club that can take and play the best youth players is a seriously good place to be in for the next few years.

Fingers crossed, could be great news. Wonder if he’d be able to dislodge Vokes from the bench though?
What does the deal overall mean? Collins, Bursik, Campbell maybe involved in some way?

I'll put money on Liam staying where he is next season, he will be integrated in to the squad throughout the season. I wouldn't listen to someone on Twitter trying to get a few retweets and followers

Guardiola is on record as of about a month ago saying that he'd be in the Man City senior squad next season. I just don't see him being loaned out, in the same way that Foden wasn't. Hope I'm wrong and he is in fact coming here.

Despite Pep's quotes a while ago, he may be a different case to Foden.
Maybe a big, bustling number 9 is a different case to a more delicate, technical player?
Delap looks like he'd have no trouble at all with the rough and tumble, and the exposure to 40 games of senior football may outweigh a season away from Pep's micro-management.
If Kane ends up there, you'd think his senior minutes would be virtually nil, especially if Jesus stays.

Let's just assume this twitter guy is the real deal and Liam signs on loan for next season. Who truly believes that MON will pick him on a regular basis or indeed pick him ahead of Vokes ?
