Have we ever loaned or even signed a player from Man City in the last 10 years? I cant remember anybody which is surprising given Hughes was manager of both clubs. I worry we dont have any strong connections which is what it often comes down to. Apart from the obvious father-son link of course. I have a feeling that Pep being the purist that he is wont want Delap coming to a hoofball team like Stoke. To be honest Delap is not Pep's type of player at all. He hardly ever signs strikers and seems to despise the big targetman kind. Im surprised that Man City are in for Haaland given the way Guardiola likes to play This fella is one.

Every single club in the Championship will be after him. I’d be astonished if he rocked up here.

Manchester City aren't particulalry keen on loaning their youngsters out to other English clubs.
Instead they tend to keep them in the EDS or, if they do go out on loan, they end up at one of City's partner clubs.
I think there's only Patrick Roberts and Jack Harrison that are loaned out to English clubs at the moment (unless they've got others filtered down the Football League pyramid)?
I'm sure that Delap will be in demand, but I'm not sure that if he does get loaned out next year it will be to us ...

All I see is potential at the minute, don’t for one minute see premier players in them yet.

They’ve graduated from an academy to become key players in a second tier team, that’s a lot more than just potential.

Are we pinning our hopes for next season on a young kid or are we thinking he's just a squad player and back up to Fletcher ?

Delap would be one of the best strikers in the Championship easily , he's got the lot, be in England squad within two years no problem (barring injury) However can see Man City keeping him If he is loaned out & we are lucky enough to get him he'd be above Fletcher in the pecking order for sure (& I like Fletcher)

I'd also say we need to extend Powell's contract as well - as I can't see us signing a replacement who is anywhere near as good if Powell left. We also need a specialist defensive midfielder (preferably one who also has a killer pass) and both full back positions need attention given that RND is only a loan and Smith isn't good enough. But a front 3 or 4 including Delap, Campbell, Powell and Doughty would take some beating.

I'm guessing that Fletcher's game time next season will be 'managed' so as to get the best out of what he has to offer (he's no spring chicken and seems to hobble off every other game). Him and Liam sharing the target man role would be ideal. And you'd imagine Liam would benefit from learning from Fletch's experience too. We can dream, l guess.

All I see is potential at the minute, don’t for one minute see premier players in them yet. Burnley bid forCollins, Bursik an U21 international and Souttar was voted best young talent by was it Sky or BeIn and already a full International> Big difference from playing in the Prem of course , for sure but none of them have gone un-noticed. Plenty of speculation re Collins but only gossip, I agree but all 3 have come on massively this season sure you'll see that. To say Delap coming here wouldn't do him any good a daft comment, he needs game time and experience and we're as good a shout as anyone.

Can't see prem club coming in for Powell Can't see another Champ club offering him more wages given we would be asking for a decent fee at this time Can see him running his contract down so summer 2022 it's a problem

Whilst I would love to see Liam at Stoke I would prefer some pace and energy in midfield coupled with some creativity and someone who can really 'boos' a game...I know I'm greedy but that is what I think we need...3 or 4 new players just in midfield

Delap is a non starter and we don't even know if Powell will be here.

Delap is possibly being allowed out on loan as such we have a chance surely? Fully expect Powell to be here next season, he's under contract and will be on good money

I'm not pinning our promotion hopes upon him.
