I posted on oatcakes a couple of weeks back that Justin was valued around £8M when others on here were saying Stoke could get him for £4M.
Much has been talked about how massive a move it would be going to Stoke City from Luton Town. Not quite as clear cut though. Yes wages would be higher but both clubs are probably mid table Championship. Stoke struggled for a few seasons and probably a couple of seasons away from putting together a side that’s able to compete with the top. Luton Town come into the league with strong momentum and a squad that had been together for a couple of seasons and squad recognised by many in the game that is already able to not only survive but to be mid table without any additions.
Don’t think Jones is that big of a fan with the players and with regards Justin, Jones had him as second choice in season 2017/18 and start of 2018/19. Only got his opportunity at left back because Dan Potts got injured early in the season. Could Justin think that the same won’t happen again under Jones.
At the moment a move to Stoke is only a sideways move, wages not included. Now a move to Villa, Leicester is an upgrade. But other teams that haven’t been mentioned are also interested and been tracking Justin for some time, both Brighton and Bournemouth.
Go well Stoke City in 2019/20

Go well Stoke City in 2019/20 You’ll lose your better players and you have a new manager that is likely to have his own ideas and move away from the system that has made you so successful over the last couple of years. If you think you’re just going to breeze through next season then you might well be in for a surprise. As for saying moving from Luton to Stoke would be a sideways move, get real.

TBH if Leicester and Villa put in genuine bids Stoke can forget him IF being the word there. If he goes elsewhere then so be it. Wasn't it Bong that accused Rodriguez of racism? A story that the BBC jumped on and had 3 reports a day about then for some reason never mentioned again

TBH if Leicester and Villa put in genuine bids Stoke can forget him Villa haven't been able to compete with stoke financially for years. I don't know what their new owners are willing to spend but neither do you. If they get promoted I guess they will have more finance available. I don't think Leicester are actually interested, they have a superb left back who is playing nearly every game for them.

Not worried - assuming he is target number 1, we still have number 2,3,4 - it's a very structured process and there is nothing wrong with it, right?

Villa is a worry if they win promotion, if they don’t I think we can still beat them financially.

What gets me reading this, some of our fans think we have a divine right to sign this guy. What is to say he even wants to join us other than the Jones link.
Makes us look like big time Charlie's. Yet when boot on the other foot we moan about our players going to West Ham or Liverpool.
I'd like to think there is an alternative and all our eggs aren't in one basket

If this goes tits up I've got a very bad feeling about our summer recruitment. If he goes to Leicester or another Premier League club, is there anything we can do about that?! As for Villa, they've been the play offs 2 seasons in a row now and are a bigger club so again, is it our fault if he goes there?! If they don't get promoted maybe the manager connection and probable higher wage budget could swing it our way. In any case, I want a naturally left footed played at LB tbh.

Completely agree with this. If we don't sign the guy for circa 10m I won't lose any sleep. Definitely prefer a left footer, I just don't know who fits the mould out there.

The point I'm trying to make is that this guy would be one of Jones flagship signings, a very important position for his diamond formation to work and I'd imagine he thought it would be in the bag. I just hope he's got a decent alternative lined up.
