Admittedly pinched from another source but this made me chuckle.
If Nathan Jones turns us down, then I’ve heard a rumour that Robert de Niro is waiting. It could be a cruel summer!

Watched an interesting interview with Eden Hazard the other day who, despite seemingly like a decent guy and vastly knowledgeable about the game, insisted he wouldn't go into coaching because attacking players didn't usually make good coaches. This was probably true of Hughes, hopefully Jones is different being a defender. Alex Ferguson and Brian Clough we're alright though.

Maybe it did at luton but we are supposed to be an attractive club with a decent budget. He's going to be expected to do it here ready for next season At least he has two transfer windows to do it, and Rowett already started the job for him with his signings: Afobe, Ince, Clucas and Woods are all decent signings, Williams and Martina no so but they'll be gone in the summer. I hope we give him the backing he needs starting today, he needs a decent budget for this window and a decent budget for the summer too, there are still big changes needed to turn us into a side capable of going on the long winning run we need to challenge for promotion. You can't expect him to come to a new club in a division he doesn't know, part way through a transfer window, identify the problems, the possible remedies and the players needed and start the process all before the end of the month

Lambert should have been on a 6 month contract with an extension if he succeeded in what he was briefed to do in that short time. The fact he was given 2.5 years was a bad joke on the board's part. You are wrong. There was a break clause inserted into lamberts contract and it was activated. The 2 and a half years was only to give him an authority with the players that he was the boss. It cost us nowt to get rid of him. Fair enough, I would still argue it was 6 months too long a contract in the first place.....

I'm really entrigued as to what his side will be.
Will he take the side on Saturday? I would assume so Will he stick initially with Rowetts players such as Martina, McClean and Clucas? Where do Bojan and Bauer fit in? If he plays the way that we all think, where does that look leave Crouch, Shawcross, McClean and Afobe who don't suit that style? So many questions but exciting

I am intrigued at Jones being our next manager. He had done very well at Luton, I just hope he can make the jump up to top half/playoff Championship football, which we all know is what we are striving for right away.

I wonder if this is the board actually being pro active, knowing that Jones is inexperienced within the overseas market?

You'd suspect the new bloke meant to be coming in is Steve Rowley as others have suggested.

I'd have given Rowett until the end of the season as an absolute minimum, preferably a minimum of 2 years. I wasn't impressed with him but felt it was far too early to judge. The same goes for Jones, my point is he absolutely needs to be given time, he'll get an extra 6 months to prepare that Rowett never had, but come this time next year - if we're not looking good for promotion then people (top 6 - and not miles away from the top 2) then people will inevitably be on his back.

If it is this chap coming in, he has a massive job on his hands with the squad he inherits. There are still a few who need moving on, and a few not good enough IMHO. Good luck to him though!

You can give a manager time if its looking like there's a good plan and its just not coming together. The squad were playing seemingly to the letter of what Rowett wanted because it was the same week in, week out. Maybe Rowett could have had an epiphany in time that the style he was trying wasn't working, but it wasn't changing. If it didn't work he merely changed the personal but kept the approach. If Jones has the team playing in a way that can work and it looks like the personnel just don't quite fit then he will get time.

From Wikipedia:- 'Jones is a devout Christian who credits his faith with getting him through bad times. "It keeps you grounded. There's a lot of temptations, a lot of pitfalls nowadays, especially for a sportsman – and I think through God's guidance I've been able to steer clear of them. Through the hard times I've always had the stability of the Lord in my life and my family background has kept me on the straight and narrow." '
