Sorry Minniederiver, but Graham Potter had success in Europe with a very small club even by Scandinavian standards. Gave arsenal a good run too.

The thing that makes me laugh the most is a good portion on here we’re creaming their pants for Potter. A guy who managed in a far worse league than league 1. Logic... Then they say ‘well he succeeded in his division’ as if Jones has done a shit job at Luton!

Indeed if we were getting somebody from an unknown team in Austria or Switzerland or Greece but who had a blitzkrieg record over the last two seasons, I think people would find it a far sexier appointment.

Luton were top scorers in League 2 last season by 15 goals, with 94 in 46 ( ), joint best defence in the league too with 46 in 46 conceded. This season they're top scorers in league 1 with 49 in 26, and second best defence in the league with 24 conceded in 26. I'm all for it at this point.

Jones will be announced tomorrow 👍 Maybe. Maybe not. I have no knowledge either way Just put ‘inside sources’ next to a random prediction and you’ll be fine 😜

A man who had already taken a much smaller club than us to the Championship playoffs where they lost narrowly to Man City. Nope. 3rd tier play-offs. Where Luton may well be at the end of this season. Sorry?

Can see the argument, Gary. But for every one who agrees, there'd be one who thought it was an incomprehensible pick and wanted some Jones-like character on the up. If the big 3 were no-gos, we were alwaus going to get someone who a lot of people were sceptical about. But we went for the young character on the up in Rowett last time and it was a colossal fuck up. If it was 2021 and we'd lost parachute payments and we were steering a different course I'd have welcomed him but not now for exactly the same reason I didn't want Rowett. Young I'll grant you....but on the up? If you analyse his managerial career: Burton - lost in playoffs twice so achieved nothing other steadying a sinking ship. Also over saw two 7-1 defeats, the heaviest in the clubs League history. Left. Birmingham - steadied a sinking ship. Achieved nothing. Sacked. Derby - probably his best spell but many talked of him as being a bit of a bottle job in the big games. Left. Stoke - heavily backed. Seemed a fish out of water. Mental comments in the press. Turgid horrible football. Sacked. Not a great CV really, although I accept it could be spun to be more positive and certainly was when he joined. I was tempted with his appointment in Jan last year as we needed the kind of manager he was. I wasnt so sure in the summer. Whereas Jones Pre Luton was invited to join up with the England under 21s as he has been recognised as an up and coming coach...working with none other than good old Saido 😂 However, appointed and wins 9 from first 15 games to steady the ship. Achieves promotion playing attacking football. Continues in same form and currently lies 2nd in table with the best GD outside the Prem and only worse than Man City and Liverpool if including it. Seems a hugely different animal. Backs himself and his players both on and off the pitch and has a promotion to show for it.

A man who had already taken a much smaller club than us to the Championship playoffs where they lost narrowly to Man City. Pulis had done nothing more than Jones has before he joined Stoke. Maybe a few more court cases... TP had taken a tiny club into the Playoffs when they were narrowly beaten by one of the biggest clubs in the country. Also, SCFC’s position is very different. When TP was first appointed we had just been promoted and were favourites to be relegated. This time we have just been relegated with a squad of Prem players and were favourites to win the league.

It’s an appointment which is brave and potentially revolutionary. It’s what our worrying slide demands. Unfortunately we’re in a position where a gamble needs to be made. If he’s as hungry and passionate as he seems, and he can get the crowd feeding of that then the players will follow suit. Damn fucking right. Wins matches 7-0, 5-0, 5-1 etc and that’s exactly what we need that’s winner’s mentality. Woo hoo that'll be us in League 1 😁

Think I will feel better about this if he fucks McClean off in his first week and buys a decent striker to play along side Afobe (that's along side Afobe , Rowett you tvvat) as Afobe is so not a lone striker. Hes going to need to inject some real pace in to the side as well quickly especially from wide areas. Id fuck Ince off as well or play him at 10, just too slow. bauer back will be like a new signing. Still think he will struggle with this lot.

His record at Luton is very good but so was Steve Davies at Crewe, in fact both very similar stories. Take a look and see what he's up to now.

Another thing - Rowett oversaw two 7-1 defeats whereas Jones has seen a plethora of massive wins for Luton. 7-1, 5-1, etc

Exactly..take away the stoke connection and most wouldn't even give a toss about potter...hes not pulling up trees tbh either. Stoke have an opportunity to change the ethos of the club which face it is stagnant as fuck. We need to move away the calling of dinosaur managers and give someone a chance who plays a good attacking form of the game, rowett was too defensive and negative and was a twat whenever he was challenged. If Jones come in like rowett I will give him my full support and hopefully he can provide us with a winning mentality. The players are lacking in confidence and I think the change in management now will lift the mood on matchdays.

This appointment really screams ambition doesn't it?? 😂 To me it seems as if the coates family are appointing a cheap option and a potential yes man not only that if we fail to gain promotion then they'll be happy to linger in the championship for the foreseeable future "young and up and coming" he may be but so was rowett apparently look how that turned out. 🤷
